ℹ Skyguide's annual results 2024: Investments in technical infrastructure lead to negative result – despite record traffic In 2024, Skyguide safely guided a record number of 1'328'974 flights under instrument flight rules through its airspace. This represents an increase of 10.2 % compared to the previous year. Despite the significant increase in civil traffic, Skyguide achieved a net financial result of -18.9 million CHF in 2024. Busy skies over Sion Airport ✈ Over the recent weekend, Skyguide's air traffic controllers at Sion Airport managed an exceptionally high volume of air traffic. ℹ Skyguide CEO Alex Bristol to step down in October 2025, Peter Merz named successor Alex Bristol will step down as CEO on 31 October 2025, after eight years of forward-thinking leadership marked by innovation and sustainability – including achieving the world's first GreenATM accreditation. He will be succeeded by Major General Peter Merz, current Commander of the Swiss Air Force, who assumes the role on 1 November 2025. Peter brings extensive aviation and leadership experience, having played a key role in modernising air defence and advancing Swiss aviation technology.
