#BADA - so much more than just an aircraft performance model ✈️! Great to see so many global aviation experts at this year's BADA conference to discuss aircraft trajectory prediction & simulation. The 2024 Base of Aircraft Data (BADA) User Group & Conference 📌 was hosted by #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub, bringing together participants from #ANSPs, #airports, R&D organisations, the ATM support industry, manufacturers & universities. The event focused on: 📌 understanding BADA's theoretical model better to drive more efficient usage 📌 information-sharing with fellow BADA users across different domains 📌 the legal framework regarding BADA's development and distribution to the user community 📌 #drones, with the aim of developing a new BADA model family. Participants also exchanged on BADA model theory & recent developments, ATM R&D applications, ATC operational uses & environmental assessments. 👉 BADA is a comprehensive aircraft performance model developed and maintained by #EIH and has over the years established itself as the global standard in aircraft performance modelling. It includes models for nearly all aircraft in operation today and is integral for predicting aircraft trajectories and simulating them within ATM R&D and operational ATC systems. CNS - Communication, Navigation and Surveillance - infrastructure is an essential technical enabler for the provision of air traffic services ✈️. 👉 In our role as CNS Programme Manager, we work closely with the #aviation sector to accelerate the upgrade of CNS equipment across Europe, in line with the European ATM Master Plan. U-AGREE – a new #Uspace exploratory research project – just kicked off ⚽ at INECO in Madrid with the involvement of 10 partners including #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub 💡 U-AGREE, or the "U-space Air and Ground Risk Models Enhancement" project to give it its full name – is part of the SESAR Joint Undertaking programme and is coordinated by Universitat Politècnica de València. 🎯 The project aims at developing an integrated risk model that links the operations of uncrewed aircraft (#UAS) or #drones with potential impacts on safety, security, privacy & the environment. This risk model will support the airspace risk assessments (#ARAs) required by U-space European regulation as well as an amendment to the SORA methodology so that risk can be quantitatively estimated, enabling digital implementations that lead to swifter operational approval processes. 🔑Talking about the key topics driving #CNS evolution with industry #CNS experts at Airbus such as #datalink performance, #GNSS #RFI and optimising & increasing the resilience of the CNS infrastructure. ✈️ CNS - Communications, Navigation & Surveillance - infrastructure is an essential technical enabler for the provision of air traffic services, and the European ATM Master Plan describes how the CNS infrastructure should evolve by deploying new systems & rationalising existing systems to take advantage of synergies within the system. EUROCONTROL took on the role of CNS Programme Manager at the start of 2024 to 🚀 accelerate the upgrade of CNS equipment across Europe, and in this role, works hard to ✈ facilitate close stakeholder cooperation ✈ support successful implementation of the CNS evolution plan ✈ assist in creating opportunities for education & engagement, placing special emphasis on a collective responsibility to realise programme aims. The meeting facilitated an informed discussion around how best to drive forward the evolution of Europe's CNS #infrastructure across the European aviation network. 33,128 average daily flights ✈️ in Week 39, our #EuropeanAviationOverview reports, ▼1.3% week-on-week as traffic continues to decline slowly, as anticipated, as the summer schedules come to an end. That's ⬆️4% vs the same week in 2023, and ⬆️5% for year-to-date traffic, with total volumes for the year at 96% of 2019. ⌚️ But arrival punctuality (68.1% arriving within 15 mins of scheduled arrival time) remains worse than last year (73.4%), and much lower than pre-pandemic 2019 (78.4%). A successful kick-off 🚀 meeting of the CORUS five project held at ENAIRE/CRIDA premises in Madrid! This ambitious project, coordinated by #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub and funded by the SESAR Joint Undertaking, is further developing the U-space ConOps to address the integration of #Uspace with #ATM, with a focus on: 📌 enhancing advanced drone (U3 & U4) services 📌 aligning with regulatory frameworks 📌 creating a robust U-space deployment roadmap in line with the ATM Master Plan. The project is building on solid work done by the CORUS and CORUS-XUAM projects, and involves a consortium of 13 partners.
