We were honored to contribute to a seminar organized by University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW in Switzerland, where students with a keen interest in exploring ASEAN’s economy and business landscape gained valuable insights from industry experts. As a key member of ASEAN, Malaysia was the focus of the seminar, with expert insights provided by SwissCham Asia and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA): 🔹 Patrick Kriesemer, Vice President of SwissCham Asia, provided a historical and economic overview of Malaysia’s development, business landscape, and its role within ASEAN’s economy. 🔹 Guna Mahalingam, Chairman of SwissCham Asia’s Malaysia Committee, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Switzerland, and Fellow of Singularity Academy, highlighted Malaysia’s attractiveness as an investment hub within ASEAN and MIDA’s role in facilitating international business. 🔹 Khairul Azian Bin Idris, Deputy Director at MIDA, shared insights into Swiss investment opportunities in Malaysia, particularly in Halal industries, reinforcing Malaysia’s strategic positioning within ASEAN. The seminar concluded with a dynamic panel discussion & Q&A, where students engaged with experts on Islamic banking, tourism, business expansion, and investment prospects across ASEAN, with a focus on Malaysia. This collaboration underscored the importance of connecting academic learning with real-world business insights, helping students develop a deeper understanding of ASEAN’s economic landscape and Malaysia’s role within it.
