We had the privilege of hosting an exclusive event at our #London Clubhouse - an insightful Panel Discussion featuring an inspiring group of 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 experts: Hanadi Al Hamoui, Chan Chan Wang and Jan Bruennler, moderated by the Boardroom's very own Founding Member, Vasiliki Petrou. 💼 The evening was filled with valuable insights on the dynamics of leadership in PE-backed companies, the importance of diversity in boardrooms, and the evolving role of women in the world of Private Equity. What an inspiring evening at the Boardroom Clubhouse in Zurich, with Dr Katharina Lange, Affiliate Professor of Leadership at IMD, delivering for our members an exclusive workshop about the importance of #trust and #agility in leadership. ✏️ Lange focused first on the necessity to establish psychological safety, paired with accountability. “𝘗𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭-𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳, 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘦. They need to transform the current business model for higher performance and productivity. Simultaneously, they do need to transform the organization for the future and create the new. The leadership capability to do both at the same times is called ambidexterity, or “leading with both hands”. Ideally, members of Boards and Executive Teams have this leadership capability and build enough ambidextrous capacity across the organization they serve. “Our research showed that only ca 12% of leaders are naturally ambidextrous,” she said. The innate capability is rare but can be developed. Increasing your leadership span by bridging the very different capabilities needed to exploit the current business model and at the same time explore what will happen in the future is hard work. "You can imagine how valuable this is at board level”, she concluded.
