Another first for the WinGD team, as celebrated by our sales manager Andy Chen in Dalian! We will shortly deliver the first dual-fuel 9X92DF-2.0 engine to be built in #Qingdao, for an LNG-fuelled 16,000 TEU vessel being built for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. Further evidence that our dual-fuel, #LNG powered vessels are a compelling option for shipowners as the energy transition in maritime progresses. #MaritimeDecarbonisation #technology #CompellingPerformance
First #WinGD 9X92DF-2.0 at CSSC engine company Qingdao factory is going to be delivered to one of MSC’s LNG fueled 16,000 TEU. Our proven performance of #XDF engine brings customers low capex and low vessel GHG intensity, has become a strong choice for #LNG carriers and container ships. I'm glad to be to witness it last week.

Innovation and regulation were the dominant themes at the recent Green Shiptech China Congress in Shanghai, where around 400 experts gathered to discuss sustainable maritime technology. ⛴️ Alternative fuel propulsion, hybrid technology and digitalisation were among the topics as delegates debated the next steps in the journey to #NetZero – and crucially the policies needed to facilitate them. WinGD’s Andre Spicher presented our X-DF-Ammonia and X-DF-Methanol technology update. The overarching sentiment was that collaboration is key to finding the solutions for a greener, cleaner future for maritime – a sentiment that WinGD has long been putting into action across its clean-fuel engine, hybrid power and digital optimisation portfolio.🌱 #MaritimeDecarbonisation #technology #innovation

Our participation at this year's Marine Environment Protection Committee (#MEPC82) allowed us to present our X-DF-A #ammonia engine technology together with shipowner Exmar as an important part of the #GHG reduction strategy for shipping. Bringing together the various stakeholders to weigh in on the regulatory framework is an essential step in our path forward. Thank you to Dirk Kadau, WinGD's Senior Regulatory Affairs Expert who took part in the sessions at IMO. #XDFA #CleanShipping #Collaboration #Decarbonisation
#MEPC82 is coming to an end after two weeks of intense negotiations on the mid-term measures to reduce #GHG emissions from #shipping. As a side event, Belgium 🇧🇪 hosted a presentation on the “World’s first oceangoing Ammonia Fuelled Ships”. Exmar, together with WinGD Ltd., presented how gas carriers using their ammonia cargo as fuel can contribute to the reduction of GHG as from 2026. The necessary steps are being taken at the International Maritime Organization to bring the regulatory framework in line with #MEPC ambitions and industry initiatives, with #MSC109 in December being the potential pivotal point, after which the use of ammonia cargo as fuel would be possible. In the meantime and with a first step taken at #CCC10 in September, Belgium together with interested parties, is working hard on the development of technical guidelines for the #safe use of #ammonia cargo as fuel. I feel privileged and am grateful to be part of all this together with my team of dedicated colleagues contributing to all these pieces of the puzzle. https://lnkd.in/ekikq2-B FOD Mobiliteit en Vervoer Royal Belgian Shipowners' Association (KBRV) Kristof Coppé Dirk Kadau Celine Audenaerdt Peter Van de Graaf Marie-Lucie Susini Caro De Wulf Alice Anbergen Aline Douxfils Kathleen Talboom Nathalie Deleuze Joachim Scheerlinck

As the #shipping industry prepares to decarbonise its operations, the fuels of choice for shipowners continue to be a topic for debate. Volkmar Galke, Director Sales, WinGD spoke to The Motorship’s David Stevenson at #SMM2024 about our X-DF-A ammonia-fuelled engines, which are already set to bring carbon-free power to the deep-sea fleet. With engine tests on ammonia already taking place and the first X-DF-A engine due in service by January 2026, regulations are needed both to incentivise early adopters and to build the supply of clean ammonia, Volkmar explained.
