This week brings incredible news for the Swiss deep tech ecosystem: both OpenAI and Anthropic have announced they would be opening new offices in Zurich! These moves reinforce Switzerland’s role as a premier destination for cutting-edge artificial intelligence research and development. Adding to the momentum, Samy Bengio, Apple’s Senior Director of AI and Machine Learning Research, has been appointed as a professor at EPFL, strengthening the company’s ties to the university, already home to one of Apple’s cybersecurity research unit. These arrivals highlight Switzerland’s unique ability to produce and attract world-class #AI talent, reinforcing its reputation as a leading destination for deep tech development. OpenAI and Anthropic's expanded presences and Samy Bengio’s academic role at EPFL represent a new chapter of collaboration and growth for our ecosystem. At Deep Tech Nation Switzerland, we’re thrilled about what this means for the future of AI and #innovation here. We’re optimistic that this growing presence will further bolster our thriving #deeptech ecosystem and create even more opportunities for research, startups, and global partnerships. Let’s continue building Switzerland as the epicenter for breakthrough technology and visionary talent!

🚀 On November 2nd, as Fachgruppe Young Swiss Engineers - Swiss Engineering we organized a visit to the Linth Limmern Pumped Storage Power Plant, an impressive Axpo Group project in the Glarus Alps! 🌄 This massive 2-billion CHF project acts as a 1000 MW battery in the Alps, balancing the grid during peak and off-peak times. Our members were truly impressed by the facility’s scale and the beautiful surroundings around the dam. We had great turnout and engagement from our members, despite the early start and cool weather. Many thanks to our guides from Axpo Group for their warm welcome and insightful tour of the plant. We’re excited to plan more visits like this throughout the year! Let us know what sites you’d like to visit next in Switzerland or even nearby countries. Share your thoughts, leave a comment, and feel free to share this post! A big thank you to Axpo Group, Sandro Walter and Setenay Saglam for making this event happen! #YoungSwissEngineers #SustainableEnergy #PumpedStorage #Engineering #SwissEngineering
