We are delighted to participate at this year’s Community of Practice on Peace Mediation in Brussels, organized by the European Union External Action! Our colleague Atefor Jude Fiankoh during this event shared key reflections from our work and young people in Cameroon to advance the need to support and amplify youth efforts for community mediation. It was indeed an honor for our organization to have served on the steering committee in the planning and implementation of this transformative initiative. We are hopeful that young people will keep playing a critical role in shaping mediation efforts. L'Union européenne au Cameroun et pour la Guinée équatoriale

During the Training of Trainers on the peace process and the prevention of the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict and armed violence. We effectively employed diverse techniques to disseminate crucial knowledge. Case studies from South Sudan and Nigeria were utilized, along with a movie and games night. Participants gained valuable insights into the roles of child soldiers through the “HEXAGON: Educational Tool for Analysis of Violent Extremism” and a powerful documentary on the kidnapping and experiences of the Chibok girls in Nigeria. Below is a recap of the training event. The Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada #PeaceProcess #LOYOC

We successfully conducted a Training of Trainers on the Peace Process and child protection in Buea-South West Region, under the PSOPs project in collaboration with The Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security. 40 youth mediators from across the 10 regions gained the skills and knowledge to implement effective child protection measures and promote peace in their communities. Michel, a former prisoner turned entrepreneur, is changing lives through fashion! After serving 16 years behind bars, Michel discovered his passion for fashion through the Creative Skills for Peace project by Local Youth Corner Cameroon. Upon his release in 2019, he launched a traditional fashion and recycling initiative to empower displaced women, and this year he benefited from funding that enabled him to train nine women. With his guidance, nine women have been trained in unique fashion design skills, and now their incredible work is ready to shine! #healingthroughfashionshowcase #healingthroughfashion #michelsjourney

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐦, 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞! We celebrated the #International_Day_of_Peace with the pupils of #Salaam_School, their smiles where once again renewed as the received new supplies for the new school year. Founded in 2018 by Local Youth Corner Cameroon, #Salaam_Schools is dedicated to providing education and support to children affected by violent conflict who have now become orphans or forcefully displaced in the Far North Region of Cameroon. Despite facing immense challenges, we've persevered in providing free education to children affected by violent conflict in the Far North Region. As we strive to continue offering free education and vital resources to these children, we humbly invite you to consider supporting our mission. Your generosity can make a profound difference in their lives. Read more about the Salaam school initiative by visiting our web page https://lnkd.in/e-aS65mA
