Revenue and Profitability: 2025 BCS Report Insights The 2025 Business Climate Survey Report reveals key shifts in expectations for revenue growth, financial performance, and margins in China: Revenue Expectations: 🔹 34% of companies project revenue growth - a dip of 5 percentage points from the previous year. 🔹 30% expect a decline, with the Tech and R&D and Resources & Industrial sectors seeing the most pronounced challenges. Profitability Trends: 🔹 46% of companies anticipate profitability, a decrease of 3 percentage points. 🔹 The Consumer sector is particularly hard hit, with profitability expectations down by 11 percentage points. Margins: 🔹 Companies forecasting higher EBIT margins have dropped by 5 percentage points. 🔹 However, the proportion of companies expecting lower EBIT margins has decreased across all sectors. Shaping the Agenda: 2025 Policy Priorities Townhall On January 15 in Beijing, the Policy Committee hosted the 2025 Policy Priorities Townhall, a pivotal annual event shaping the Chamber’s advocacy and strategic goals. This forum ensures member voices and priorities are front and center in our efforts. AmCham China President Michael Hart opened with welcome remarks, followed by Elliott Johnson, Manager of Government Affairs & Policy, who reviewed 2024’s policy priorities and achievements. Travis Tanner, Policy Committee Co-Chair and AmCham China Vice Chair, presented the 2025 outlook, addressing challenges like tariff strategies, geopolitical shifts, and fostering US-China understanding. Members participated in group discussions, highlighting transparency, communication, and equitable treatment for foreign enterprises - key themes for 2025. AmCham China is pleased to announce that Alvin Liu (Boeing) has been elected as Chair of the Board of Governors for 2025, while Su Cheng Harris Simpson (Women Empowerment Council), Min Qin (Mars), and Travis Tanner (GreenPoint Group, an Ankura company) have been elected as the 2025 Vice Chairs. “2025 will be a pivotal year for US-China relations as both nations navigate a complex global environment and a new US administration takes shape. AmCham China’s mission has never been more important: fostering constructive dialogue, advocating for our members’ interests, and providing actionable insights to help businesses succeed. AmCham China Chair Roberta Lipson has been busy championing global talent mobility and US-China collaboration this week. At the International Organization For Migration (IOM) Workshop on Talent Mobility and Integration in Beijing, Lipson shared her insights on creating inclusive environments to attract and retain high-skilled foreign talent. The event emphasized multi-stakeholder strategies for talent retention and integration - key topics for global competitiveness. Later, at the Kuliang Forum in Beijing, Lipson delivered remarks on the importance of fostering people-to-people ties as a cornerstone of US-China relations. Her participation highlighted the Chamber's dedication to promoting mutual understanding and collaboration between our two nations.
