关于我们
The British Chamber of Commerce in China has been at the heart of the British business community in China since the early days of reform and opening-up. As British businesses began to build their presence in the early 1980s, they came together to create a network on the ground in China to support the community, share knowledge, and advocate for greater market access. On 1 April 1981 the British Chamber was established as the Association of British Commerce in China with a mission to be the independent voice of British business in China, funded solely by our members.

The Sustainability Summit, KPMG China organised together with British Chamber of Commerce in China (BritCham China) and United Nations China, explored the pressing issues of energy decarbonisation and green finance through expert panels. KPMG’s 沈莹 Daisy Shen, Head of Climate Change & Sustainability participated in the event and covered how businesses, governments and society can work together for climate transitions. With COP29 only two weeks away, the summit provided timely insights and the urgency of connecting environment, politics, industry and business in taking collaborative actions. Daisy will also attend COP29 in person later this year on behalf of KPMG to advance discussions on accelerating climate action. #COP29 #Sustainability #ClimateAction (Photo credits: BritCham China)

With COP29 just two weeks away, yesterday's Sustainability Summit covered two of the most pressing issues at the conference – energy decarbonisation and green finance. Organised together with KPMG China and United Nations China, we were honoured to be joined by SIDDHARTH CHATTERJEE 常启德, UN Resident Coordinator in China, whose keynote speech at the event reminded attendees of how urgent work needed to be taken on the climate crisis – an issue that connected environment, politics, industry, business, and more. Our two panels featured expertise from across industry, academia, government and more, creating two fascinating discussions on "Energy Transition and Green Transformation," and "Climate Finance and ESG Investment." As well as providing timely information on China's work in this crucial field, speakers also dived deeper into how China and the UK were working together to lessen the impacts of climate change, and how a just climate transition could be achieved when business, government and civil society work together. Four workshops tied together the themes of the morning's summit, allowing attendees to develop their own pledges to the environment, ensuring that conversations and actions continued following the summit's conclusion. Our huge thanks to our co-organisers, panelists, and 80 attendees of the event.

BritCham has been out and about in Beijing and beyond this month, highlighting our members' diverse impact on the Chinese business community. Here are just some of our highlights: ⚽️ We were delighted to join the The Premier League in opening its third overseas office in Beijing earlier this month, offering an opportunity for the league to work with Chinese football institutions and clubs to promote the beautiful game in China. We even managed to snap a picture with some famous faces! 🎭 Leading arts examination board Trinity College London is also celebrating its office opening in China, and we were delighted to join them at their China Conference earlier this month. We're looking forward to supporting Trinity as they expand their links with other British educational institutions based here in the country. 🏥 Raffles Hospital Beijing marked its 30th anniversary with a wonderful musical performance and silent auction, raising thousands of yuan to support children with leukaemia. Raffles also ensured our own Chamber's health by supporting us with First Aid and CPR training. 🐎 And finally, after supporting us with our fantastic British Ball earlier this month, we were delighted to visit Equuleus Corp as they held their International Equestrian Culture Week here in Beijing. As an approved centre of The Pony Club, we are excited to support Equuleus as they expand interest in equestrian sports here in Beijing and beyond. We look forward to a fruitful November filled with supporting our members in every sector, and closing 2024 strong!
