  • Last week, GIFT, in partnership with SMBC Indonesia (PT Bank BTPN Tbk), successfully concluded the Executive Development Programme (EDP) in Jakarta.    Facilitated by GIFT, this cross-functional cohort of 25 senior leaders from #SMBCI participated in a blend of online sessions and in-person workshops, honing critical thinking, awareness, communication, and leadership skills essential for navigating the challenges of the 21st century. Over three months, the teams collectively designed innovative and practical product and service initiatives for the bank to address three of Indonesia's key challenges:  • Transitioning to a Low-Carbon Economy  • Providing Basic Needs to All Indonesians  • Mitigating Negative Externalities On top of their existing work, the teams researched, planned, and designed their business model proposals. These were backed by interviews with various stakeholders, including #doctorSHARE, #ADUPI, and #Bluebird. At the Final Presentation Forum, teams presented their bold new ideas to a panel comprising members of the SMBCI Board of Directors. GIFT was pleased to welcome these esteemed individuals as the panellists: Mr. Henoch Munandar (President Director), Mr. Darmadi Sutanto (Vice President Director), Mrs. Hanna Tantani (Finance Director), Mrs. Merisa Darwis (Operations Director), and Mrs. Mira F Soetjipto (Head of Human Resources). Based on observations throughout the programme and the high quality of the final presentations, the cohort achieved several key objectives: • Gained new insights into the prevailing global issues within the context of Indonesia, reshaping mainstream ESG narratives and backing innovative ideas with real-life solutions.   • Integrated the three pillars of leadership methodologies – Knowledge, Communication and Empathy – into the programme and applied them consistently within project teams.   • Practised effective communication to break down organisational silos and overcome group dynamics challenges. • Recognised that leadership has many elements, thus having a growth mindset is crucial to its development. The GIFT team congratulates the SMBCI cohort on completing the EDP, with the aim of applying their new-found learnings within their teams. We would also like to appreciate the superb efforts of the visionary HR team (Ayuningtyas Dwi K, Veronica Wilda) for bringing a fresh and impactful approach to leadership learning and talent development at SMBCI.

Malaysia's #braindrain rate of 5.5% is significantly higher than the global average of 3.3%. This outflow of talent not only erodes human capital but also undermines the country's competitive position in the global market. How can Malaysia turn the tide and cultivate a sustainable talent ecosystem? 👉 https://lnkd.in/d6SR3UYD   Our Founder & CEO, Chandran Nair, will be speaking at the Youth Economic Forum 2024 panel session titled "Creating a Sustainable Talent Ecosystem within Malaysia" on 26 October 2024 (Saturday) at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).   Join him as the discussion explores how Malaysia can align education and skills with high-growth sectors like the green economy and digital technologies, driving long-term economic transformation.   Chandran will be joined by industry leaders: Datuk Shahul Dawood (HRD Corp - Human Resource Development Corporation), Dr. Logendra Ponniah (Taylor's University), and Dr. Muhammed Abdul Khalid (IKMAS, UKM & Paris School of Economics). The session will be moderated by Prof. Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd. Nur, Ph.D. (UCYP University Pahang).   📌 For RSVP and more info, visit www.yef2024.com

The GIFT team had the honour of spending a morning at DRB-HICOM Berhad with the senior management committee, where our Founder and CEO, Chandran Nair, delivered a talk titled ‘Redesigning Society: Systemic Leadership for a Turbulent World.’ DRB-Hicom Berhad is one of Malaysia’s leading conglomerates, with core businesses in the automotive, aerospace & defence, banking, postal services, and property sectors.   Together, we explored the megatrends shaping our present and future, from geopolitical shifts and resource scarcity to the crises of modern-day capitalism and technological overreach.   In a world where everything is constantly in flux yet deeply interconnected, the need for #systemicleadership has never been more critical. 🌎   It emphasises understanding and navigating interconnected megatrends / factors within organisations and societies. It moves beyond traditional hierarchies, focusing on how leaders can influence and shape broader systems to drive change and innovation in complex environments.   This transformation begins with leadership and senior management taking ownership of co-designing a new operational framework.   An organisation that is transformed and rooted in a culture of systems thinking is hardwired for resilience, making it better equipped to maintain its competitive edge and stay relevant.   A BIG THANK YOU to the DRB-Hicom Berhad team for your warm welcome, and we look forward to more opportunities to collaborate. 🤝

We are excited to announce that former Financial Secretary John Tsang will join us at the Hong Kong Young Leaders Programme #HKYLP this November as a keynote speaker! Since stepping down from office, Mr. Tsang has been active in positively shaping Hong Kong society, particularly by advocating for the use of technology to innovate learning through his charity, Esperanza Life (薯片叔叔共創社). Participants of the HKYLP will gain exclusive access to his leadership insights and have the opportunity to ask questions on timely topics, such as the use of #AI in education, as announced in this week’s Policy Address. From celebrating early adopters of EdTech in HK (#EdTechHeroesAward) to introducing innovative learning solutions from around the world (#EdventuresGBA), Esperanza is working with local and international partners to build a learning innovation ecosystem to ensure we are future-proof. Just like chalkboards and calculators, the advent of AI will accelerate the much-needed transformation of the learning space, empowering individuals and making learning more inclusive, engaging and effective. Rachel Chan, co-founder of Esperanza, shared some thought-provoking insights on AI and its relevance to Hong Kong: • Hong Kong currently ranks 16th on the #GlobalAIIndex, with the US, China and Singapore topping the league. According to this study, Hong Kong is lagging a bit behind in government strategy and the operating environment. • Our city has great potential to stay ahead if we focus on developing higher level, durable human skills, while embracing AI in how we live, work and learn. The 2024 Policy Address sets a new roadmap for Hong Kong K-12 education. There will be both challenges and opportunities as these new policies are implemented. It will require concerted efforts from all sectors to ensure their successful implementation and adoption. Nominate your rising talents to join our 2-week Hong Kong Young Leaders Programme this November and December (with 2-week interim) for a transformative leadership development journey, and help redesign education for our future! 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: Module 1 | Nov 18-23 (6 days) — Blended classroom learning Module 2 | Dec 8-13 (6 days) — Field project with positive impact #HKYoungLeadersProgramme #SmartCity #TechEd #EdTech #YouthDevelopment #Talent #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #SustainabilityLeaders #DigitalTransformation #CareerGrowth #NorthernMetropolis #GBA #GreaterBayArea #innovationandtechnology #hongkong #education

As modern healthcare systems grapple with growing challenges—most notably the rising costs of care, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is gaining recognition as a promising alternative.   What is driving TCM’s growing popularity?   1️⃣ — It is holistic   TCM views the body as a small universe, interconnected with nature and external factors like the environment and seasons. Diseases, in the eyes of TCM, are often caused by a disruption in the natural balance of the body, ‘yin’ and ‘yang’. Hence, treatments aim to restore that balance. It may take longer, but the focus is on sustained wellness.   2️⃣ — It is preventative   TCM focuses on detecting early signs of imbalance in the body before disease fully develops. Using "image thinking," a method of observing external signs and interpreting internal health, TCM intervenes early to prevent conditions from worsening.   3️⃣ — It is affordable   TCM is built upon centuries of shared practical knowledge, and it belongs to all. It often utilises simple tools and readily available materials, which can help reduce reliance on costly pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.   ***    Holistic, preventative, and affordable are all key attributes of TCM that attest to its potential to contribute to universal healthcare. As it continues to modernise and expand, TCM stands as a shining example of the potential of Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) in contributing to global healthcare.   Imagine the same for the different forms of traditional medicine that are widely used throughout the region: India’s Ayurvedha, Thailand’s herbal medicine, Indonesia’s Jamu medicine, Japan’s eastern medicine, Malaysia and Brunei’s traditional Malay medicine, etc.   How will the region’s healthcare system evolve if these medical systems are provided the platform and resources to modernise, develop, and integrate?   This is also a critical subject to be addressed at GIFT’s upcoming Asia Young Leaders Programme (AYLP), where we will imagine the future of healthcare through the creation of a Regional Traditional and Complementary Medicine Hub.   𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗖𝗠:  https://lnkd.in/gw3YxHjB   𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗔𝗬𝗟𝗣:  https://lnkd.in/gmrYfmv9   #GIFTLeadership #AYLP #HonestInquiry #HealthcareInnovation #Healthcare #TCM
