🌟 Exploring the Heart of Shantou’s Culture! 🌟 This golden October, nearly 120 members from the #GTIIT community, representing 12 nationalities, came together for an unforgettable cultural journey through Shantou! 🎨🏛️ Our group delved into Shantou’s rich industrial past at the Shantou Industrial Museum, uncovering 160 years of inspiring stories and innovations. The vibrant Shantou Cultural Center followed, offering a feast for the senses with Teochew opera, intricate paper cutting, and hands-on wood carving. 🌿✨ From learning the history of local industries to trying their hands at traditional crafts, participants connected with the essence of Chaoshan culture. As Tareq Tarabeih from GTIIT’s Chemistry Department shared, “It was amazing. Today I had the chance to discover Chinese tradition in a deeper way.” Alexandra Kantorowitz, an Israeli Technion student who arrived to GTIIT campus as part of the Study Abroad program, shared that it was super fun and interesting, and that she’s looking forward to more opportunities to learn and experience Shantou culture, and to create more memories during her stay in Shantou. This enriching event, organized with the Shantou Public Diplomacy Association and the Municipal Education Bureau, built bridges between cultures and left us all with lasting memories. 🎓 GTIIT Commencement 2024 🎓: Celebrating a New Chapter! Today, at 14:30, we celebrated the GTIIT Commencement for Graduates 2024 at the Gym of South Campus. It was an afternoon filled with pride, joy, and anticipation for the future. 💫 🇮🇱🇨🇳🌍 We were honored to welcome our esteemed faculty members, beloved students, and proud parents to this radiant celebration of youth. 🐉 The event featured a captivating Dragon Dance, which set the stage for an inspiring day. Heartfelt messages from our alma mater guided our graduates as they embark on their next journey. 💌 Adding to the festive atmosphere, the GT Chorus delivered a beautiful performance that resonated with everyone present. 🎶🎺 In the evening, at 20:00, the Shantou Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, under the support of the Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports of Shantou Municipality, presented an unparalleled audio-visual extravaganza. The orchestra, conducted by Xintai Zhao and Weijie Lin, showcased a magnificent program that included masterpieces such as "Pomp and Circumstance Marches," "Carmen Overture," "Emperor Waltz," and many more, providing a perfect conclusion to a memorable day. 🌟 Reflecting on Our Successful GTIIT Meetup at the Technion! 🌟 Yesterday, the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology [GTIIT] hosted an inspiring event at the #Technion continuing our recent online campaign about the incredible study opportunities for Technion students at our Shantou campus. With close to 80 attendees, the event provided valuable insights into the GTIIT experience. Highlights of the Event: Avital Levinzon LLB LLM , Head of Marketing & Recruitment at GTIIT, welcomed all guests and participants, and introduced Prof. Dganit Danino , Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Head of #Biotechnology & Food Engineering at GTIIT. ✨Prof. Danino who started the session with opening remarks, and shared an overview of our campus, diverse programs, and the great opportunity offered to Technion students to study at the GTIIT campus in China. ✨Later, we had an In-Depth Presentation by Prof. Yigal Achmon, a faculty member at the BFE Department at GTIIT: Prof. Achmon introduced GTIIT’s offerings, environment, and community, setting the stage for the rest of the session. ✨Then, we had some experiences shared by Dr. Avishay Levy, a lecturer at the Chemical Engineering Department at GTIIT: Dr. Levy provided personal insights and detailed perspectives on life and study at GTIIT, and around. ✨After Dr. Levy , we head a testimonial by Ms. Sigal Hirsh, a Technion graduate who studied at GTIIT campus in 2019. Ms. Hirsh’s vivid recollections and encouragement resonated deeply with the audience. ✨Lastly we heard Mrs. Revital Cohen, GTIIT’s Coordinator of Community Affairs, who openely expressed her excitement for the renewed Study Abroad Program, sharing her experiences of moving to China with her family and joining the GTIIT community, engaging with Internatinal faculty and students every day. 💫The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session where students asked about GTIIT’s academic, social, and cultural aspects, after which Mrs. Ronit Mayer, Head of GTIIT Israel Office, summed up and invited guests to network over pizzas and drinks. The enthusiasm and curiosity from everyone present created a vibrant and promising atmosphere.
