She led a three-hour workshop on "Infrastructure and Talent Development for MEL Organization Practice and Data Management System" for the 2024 cohort of the Jockey Club MEL Institute Project. It's been 30 years since the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) came into effect in Hong Kong on 7 September 1994. To see how much we’ve moved forward in prioritising children's best interests, the Hong Kong Committee on Children’s Rights organised a series of conferences. Our Community Ambassador kit ying chan spoke about #adoption at an earlier event, while our CEO, Sky Siu, had the privilege of moderating a panel discussion in September. This session focused on 'Special protection measures for children in deprived circumstances' and featured engaging insights from a teenage refugee, #PatriciaHo; Mr. Leung Siu Kei, Supervisor of the Youth Crime Prevention Centre; and Mr. Shing Mu YAU, Associate Director (Reintegration) of #ProjectChange. As passionate champions for child welfare in Hong Kong, we were honored to have Sky represent Mother’s Choice and lead this important discussion. Ronald Lee has been an integral member of our Board since 2007, serving as Chair for almost 10 years. He has generously donated his time, skills, and resources, which have been critical in fostering strategic connections that have increased our capacity as an organization. A Heartfelt Thank You to Tim Wannenmacher. As Tim Wannenmacher concludes his tenure on the Board of Mother's Choice, we extend our sincere appreciation for his dedicated service since 2018. For more than a decade, Tim has spearheaded the Thanksgiving turkey tradition at Mother’s Choice, fostering a culture of gratitude within our team. His dedication extended beyond this initiative; he played a pivotal role in our major fundraising events, driving significant accomplishments along the way. Tim’s commitment to service was matched by his entire family, who actively participated in various activities—from swimming around Middle Island to engaging in all our events. They were among the first families to join our Project Bridge foster program, demonstrating their strong commitment to our mission. After a decade of transformational leadership, we bid farewell to our COO, Helene Rao. Under Helene's visionary leadership, Mother's Choice has expanded immensely in impact and scale. She built high-performing teams, drove innovative programs, and advanced our mission of ensuring every child grows up in a loving family. Helene's passion for our mission was contagious. She motivated all of us with her drive to support Hong Kong's most vulnerable children and young girls. Through her efforts, many more will now experience the care of a safe, loving and permanent family. While we will miss Helene's daily contributions, she leaves a tremendous legacy. Her influence will continue guiding Mother's Choice for years to come. We are forever grateful for her transformative work and dedicated service. Last week, we came together to celebrate the Mother’s Choice Family Benefit. It was a heartfelt gathering of families across generations, united in our vision to support children finding their forever families. Our talented young performers truly stole the show! The Ballroom Bees dazzled us with their dance, Creative Collab brought Mowgli to life with their vibrant storytelling, Retykle amazed everyone with a stylish fashion show, and Baumhaus wrapped up the event with a joyful sing-along. This wonderful event highlighted the incredible power of all ages working together to make a lasting impact.
