Day 240 / 366 Fantastic to see Cammy Gibbons out on site performing Hydroform Corrosion Mapping on pipework to identify Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC) for Applus+ MIC is a form of corrosion caused by living organisms such as bacteria, algae or fungi and can be near impossible to find with conventional UT as some of the pits found have been 2mm x 2mm or smaller. Most common materials of construction including carbon and low alloy steels, 300 Series SS and 400 Series SS, aluminium, copper and some nickel base alloys. The main goal of the project is to 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 at various compressor plants and pumping stations using 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 over 36 months. This initiative also involves managing 6 stations to monitor air quality and 16 stations to track both the quality and quantity of water, all equipped with real-time data transmission capabilities through the ambiensQsuite. The project will contribute to reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere, enhancing air quality, optimizing the client's operational efficiency, and aligning with international voluntary initiatives like OGMP 2.0 and the Global Methane Alliance. Applus+ has partnered with COOEC to work on the Kingfisher Project in Uganda as the third-party inspection agency for Uganda’s first commercial oilfield development project, a key milestone in the country’s energy strategy.
