📌 Rolex from the space goes to auction ☄️ Yes, we’re not kidding! The Rolex GMT Master that was worn by Edgar Mitchell on the Apollo 14 mission is going to auction with RR Auction! About the watch 👇 This specific GMT Master was the first Rolex on the Moon, which already makes it a piece of history. It’s your typical Red & Blue model from 1971, with an engraving "Worn by CDR. E. Mitchell on Apollo 14, 1971. To Karlin [sic] – My Daughter." The watch obviously comes with a letter of authenticity, signed by Mitchell himself. How is it possible that Mitchell had a Rolex watch when Omeag was the official space program partner? 🤔 Basically, every astronaut was given a Speedmaster to wear on their suit, but they could also wear their private timepiece under the suit, and Micthell (among others) went with is, going with his trusted GMT Master. 💰 The price RR Auction listed the watch at a starting price of approximately $400,000, but it will surely go up. This auction closes on October 25th.

The Most Expensive Watch vs. The Most Expensive Piece of Jewelry Watches and jewelry may not be essential, but they sure command sky-high prices! So, what’s the costliest? The most expensive watch ever sold is the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, fetching $31 million at a 2019 auction. With 20 complications and two dials, this stunning masterpiece supports Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. As for jewelry, Mouawad’s L’Incomparable Necklace takes the crown. Sold for a whopping $55 million in 2013, its 407.48-carat yellow diamond was later recut into the Golden Canary. Winner? Mouawad’s necklace—by $24 million! Richard Mille re-releases their signature model in titanium - is it a good choice? Richard Mille, a beloved visionary watchmaker, re-releases the 17-02 manual winding tourbillon in titanium… Is this a step in the right direction? The 17-02 is certainly a modern classic, and we all are so used to it in ceramic, that the decision to change the key material to titanium could be seen as questionable. But honestly, we think it’s a step in the right direction. Titanium is becoming more and more popular in watchmaking because its characteristic features make it a very good option. It is a tough, yet light material, that is relatively easy to work with, and is incredibly durable, which is something many Richard Mille watches lack. The watch will keep its convenient 40x48mm diameter, but the shiny titanium will make the timepiece appear slightly larger on the wrist. We think those are great news - after all, if you wear a Richard Mille, you want it to be seen! The 17-02 still prides itself on the incredible manual wound movement, which is obviously entirely see-through - this is especially appreciated when you look at the tourbillon complication. This edition will be priced at the customary Richard Mille price; Upon Request (but most likely over $500,000)

Thanks to Cartier, you have the key to Love - the Cartier Love bracelet 😍 In terms of jewelry, there has hardly ever been a more impactful and recognizable design than the Cartier Love collection. So what makes it the undefeatable champion of high-end accessories? It’s hard to believe that Cartier Love has been with us since 1969. Even today, the design is fresh and relevant, being one of the best-sold pieces of jewelry ever. But what makes it so impactful and popular? 🤔 First, we must address the concept - the Cartier Love bracelet (there are many more pieces in the collection, but for the sake of the argument, let’s focus on the bracelet), is meant to be given, but it’s a gift like none other. When you put the Cartier Love bracelet on, really the only way to take it off is by a special hidden screw to be removed, from which the screwdriver is in the hands of the person that gave it. What could be more romantic? Imagine giving this bracelet to your partner, with only you holding the key to unlock it. It creates an emotional connection that few other luxury items can replicate. Apart from this unique feature, the Love bracelet is also a beautiful piece of jewellery. It comes in all types of gold, often including diamonds or rare stones, making it a sight to behold. It is easily recognisable and simply iconic. And because the bracelet is so desirable, it’s often very difficult to get it in retail. Also, since the pandemic, the prices almost doubled, starting at $4,750 for the basic model.

Just buy the Rolex Explorer 😉 For someone who loves watches, it’s almost impossible to not love the Rolex Explorer, one of the brand’s cleanest and most versatile models to this day. So today, let’s just share some of our love for this timepiece. 👉 The very brief history of the Explorer line Although not many people know this, the Explorer is one of the brand's oldest models, going all the way to 1953. When Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first ascended Mt. Everest, a Rolex watch was their timepiece of choice. And even though it wasn’t the Explorer, it was after this expedition the brand’s new line was named. What is the Explore of today? 🤔 The watch has obviously undergone some changes throughout the years, but the soul is still clearly visible in every line of the model; clean dial, 3,6,9 numerals with luminescent coating, simple and uncluttered design, robust and reliable feel to its build… In simple words, a perfectly versatile timepiece. But how does it perform on the wrist? The Explorer is incredible, and that is a huge understatement. Want a watch that will accompany you for a hike or a field trip? The Explorer has you covered. Thanks to its practical and very flexible design, the watch performs well in even the harshest conditions, having perfect dust resistance, a very convenient 100m water resistance (which is more than you need for most expeditions), and a respectable sturdiness, which ensures that the watch can take some beating and rough treatment while maintaining it’s beauty and shine. As a bonus, the enlarged luminescent numerals make it very easy to tell time even in complete darkness, which is a plus. But how about a city life? No worries, even in this scenario, the Explorer won’t betray you. After all, it’s a Rolex. You can’t deny its beautiful and sleek lines, which are fitted for the urban lifestyle. The Explorer can be paired with almost any outfit, and worn to any social occasion, no matter how elevated, which makes it even more appealing. With a clean, steel case and Oyster bracelet, it will feel comfortable and almost a part of your arm, even after many hours on the wrist, while also maintaining the good weight a watch should have. What is even nicer about the Explorer is the fact that not that many people wear it. It’s not a rare watch per se, but certainly more exclusive than let’s say a Datejust. In that price range, it would be very hard to find a watch which gets more compliments and recognition from both collectors and casual enthusiasts. A conclusion on the Explorer So, should you buy the Explorer? Certainly, you should! The price/value ratio is one of the most favouable in the entire watch industry, the watch looks absolutely stunning, is convenient, and even quite accessible. For most people, we’d say there’s hardly a better entry-level Rolex. If you want to see more of the Explorer, you can head to our shop section and enjoy some more up-close photos of this beauty.
