Travelling & Tourism. Despite the fact that members of our team don't really buy travel packages, our primary focus is on advising package travel organisers and travel agencies on how to navigate the dangerous waters of package travel regulations. Therefore, we are closely monitoring the proposed revision of the EU Package Travel Directive. Our Partner, Klara Dvorakova, opposes the proposal. She believes that the proposal further tightens conditions, even though there are alternative ways to protect consumers while travelling. Klára spoke at the 35th IFTTA Annual Conference in Vienna, Austria, at the end of September about the need to reconsider the current rules for package travel organisers. Last year, she, along with the IFTTA - The International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates, initiated the establishment of a working group on the Package Travel Directive. This working group has officially provided the Commission with feedback on the proposal to revise the Directive. Additionally, it has set the objective of submitting a proposal to the European Parliament to amend the legislation in the short term and to call for a revision of the entire legal concept in the long term. Due to Klara's active involvement with the IFTTA over the past year, she was awarded the Gerald Heifetz award during the conference for her contribution to the organisation and to travel law. Gerald Heifetz, known as the "father" of travel law in Canada, was instrumental in the establishment of the IFTTA. Heifetz Crozier Law continues to carry on his legacy to this day, serving as a great inspiration for Klara! The same award was also received by Marie Vandersanden LL.M. Eur. (欧洲法学硕士). This year's The Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) Annual Conference in Prague, which we had the pleasure of co-hosting, was a huge success. PEOPIL members are naturally friendly and curious, but when you provide them with engaging topics, stunning venues, delicious food and drinks, and beautiful weather, you create an unstoppable wave of positive reactions. Yes, our Klara Dvorakova aimed to deliver an unforgettable conference, and our team, together with Philippine (Pien) Bax-Engelsman, began preparations as early as January. However, we never anticipated receiving feedback like for example this one from David Sánchez Almagro: "Dear Klara, just a quick note to send you a HUGE THANK YOU for the Conference in Prague, which in my opinion, has been the best EVER since I started attending these events. The incredible venues, the outstanding food, the great atmosphere, the music on Saturday—everything was SUBLIME. You even managed to arrange perfect weather! A heartfelt thank you because I know such a success required tremendous effort." Thank you all 😍 🥰 🤩 We are excited. The buzz on social media has been tremendous as well, with countless smiling, happy personal injury lawyers sharing their stories from the Prague conference. It's a reminder that we are far from "ambulance chasers," echoing one of the event’s key discussion topics. We have been involved in compensation and international personal injury cases for a long time, but we are always pleased when we bring a case to a successful conclusion, which we do in the vast majority of cases. We are even more pleased when our client appreciates us. This case involved a fire at a Prague hotel in which a number of guests were injured. We represented a large family from the Netherlands.
