Building a #Sustainable Future through High-Resolution Mapping 🌍 Malawi’s rapid population growth and increasingly severe climate events are driving the need for more resilient infrastructure and informed #urbanplanning. Yet, outdated maps have held back progress—Malawi’s last base map dates back to the 1970s, lacking the resolution and accuracy needed for effective decision-making. During the recent project, PLACE, in partnership with the Malawian Government, used Mosaic’s high-res 360° #mobilemapping cameras to capture vital data across the cities of Zomba and Lilongwe. In just a few weeks, their team mapped over 240 km of primary and secondary roads, generating precise street-level imagery and aerial ortho maps that now support a wide range of critical applications, including: ✔️Urban Planning and Infrastructure Development: Detailed mapping enables better planning of roads, housing, and essential infrastructure. ✔️Disaster Preparedness: High-res data is being used for flood risk assessments and climate resilience strategies. ✔️Efficient Land Management and Tax Systems: Up-to-date maps support more accurate land use and revenue collection. Reality Capture Network Conference 2024 is truly a hub for industry innovators, bringing together top minds in #RealityCapture technology to explore where the future is headed!
