Yesterday, Sdružení automobilového průmyslu (AutoSAP – the Czech Automotive Industry Association) hosted an excellent workshop in Prague on renewable energy Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). More than 20 representatives from some of the Czech Republic’s leading auto companies attended to hear from speakers including Rezolv’s Milan Kamaryt about the environmental and economic factors driving the interest in PPAs that we are seeing from the automotive sector, and the benefits they offer both to OEMs and auto industry suppliers. 👷 WE HAVE BROKEN GROUND AT THE ST. GEORGE SOLAR PARK IN BULGARIA! 👷 We are delighted to announce that yesterday we broke ground at the 225MW ‘St. George’ solar park in Northeastern Bulgaria.   St. George is a brownfield site: the former Silistra airport, a decommissioned airfield covering 165 hectares. The project will comprise nearly 400,000 photovoltaic panels. With an average annual power generation of more than 310 Gigawatt hours (GWh), St. George will be one of the largest solar projects in Bulgaria once it is onstream next year.   Three companies are building St. George: the Bulgarian Solarpro Holding – Europe’s leading technology integrator, and CMC Europe are together acting as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner. This will involve working alongside Rezolv to implement the project’s Environmental and Social Action Plan. The high voltage work is being delivered by Green Solar Energy, another Bulgarian company.   The project will create 200 new jobs in the construction phase. Training and skills development programmes are already underway. Longer term, the power plant will provide local employment throughout its 30 plus years of operation.   The ground-breaking follows the announcement, two weeks ago, that Rezolv had secured up to €90 million in debt financing from IFC - International Finance Corporation and Raiffeisen Bank International AG to support the construction of the project.   It also follows the signing in early September of a major 12-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe (AGP-Europe), an operating business of Ardagh Group. The VPPA – one of the first to be signed in Bulgaria – is intended to provide 110 GWh per year of renewable electricity from St. George to AGP-Europe to help decarbonise its manufacturing operations across Europe.   In a country which has historically relied on fossil fuels for most of its energy needs, replacing fossil production with renewables delivers the maximum possible emissions reduction impact. St. George will therefore play a crucial role in Bulgaria’s energy transition and help the country meet its climate targets.   We are hugely excited to get the building work underway!   #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #cleanpower #sustainability #solar #SEE

Rezolv will be at two important events this week: First, starting today, there is the second EMEA Green Steel Summit in Frankfurt, where Rezolv’s Milan Kamaryt will be part of a panel discussion on “Cross-industry collaboration to accelerate the transition to green steel and address common sustainability goals.” https://lnkd.in/dy-rBPNn And then, starting tomorrow, there is the 2024 PowerShift Summit – “Watts the Future?” – in Bucharest.
