#RunUpdate from Fritz Sitte Since March 2024, Fritz has been attempting to set a world record by crossing the African continent on foot, covering 11,000 km from Cape Town to Cairo—essentially running an ultra marathon every day. His only support comes from his brother Max, who follows by bicycle, organizing food and shelter ahead of time when he's not riding alongside him. Africa GreenTec has been an official partner from the beginning, backing Fritz on his journey and coordinating friends and Olympic sports enthusiasts to occasionally run alongside him. Despite facing challenges and closed borders that required frequent plan changes and rerouting, Fritz and Max have successfully completed another stage of their journey and are excited to share this milestone with you. “Hey everyone, We've made it to Morocco after some of the toughest days of our lives running through the Sahara desert of Mauritania. Now there's just over 2,000 km left before we reach the end of November. 🌍 Escape from the Sahel: How access to electricity can change lives ⚡ The Sahel region is experiencing a growing refugee movement towards Europe. But why are so many people seeking refuge? Poverty, political instability and violence are driving many to flee. One aspect that is often overlooked is the lack of access to electricity. 💡 Energy as a beacon of hope Electricity not only means light but access to education, healthcare and economic opportunities. With electricity, local communities can strengthen their economy, utilise modern agricultural techniques, set up their own businesses and thus create jobs. 🤝 A call to action Investment in renewable energy and infrastructure is crucial to give local people prospects and stabilise the region in the long term. Let's work together to ensure that the people of the Sahel see a better future with electricity in their homeland. Meet Tinasoa Rasoaharimalala! She studied at L'Ecole Supérieure de Management et d'Informatique Appliquée and wrote her bachelor's thesis with AGT Madagascar on renewable energy in Madagascar's agricultural sector. 📚🌾 For her thesis, Tinasoa interviewed 257 local smallholder farmers in the regions of Itasy and Bongolava about their needs and how they can benefit from electricity.  What did she learn about the challenges and problems faced by farmers in rural Madagascar? #SustainableFarmingInAfrica In Europe, we are now approaching the most important months for agriculture: The harvest season, which affects our food supply. This year, again, climate change is showing ever more clearly how important sustainable agriculture and new solutions are. Extreme heat ☀, drought and heavy rainfall 🌧 are making it increasingly difficult for farmers to secure their harvest. 🍊🌾 The conditions for farmers in the Global South are even more challenging. It is getting hotter every year, the dry seasons are getting longer and extreme rainfall are becoming more frequent. As Africa GreenTec, we have made it our mission to develop sustainable solutions with and for the local people.  Products such as our Solartainer® and Cooltainer® bring clean energy and cold storage to the rural regions of sub-Saharan Africa. This enables farmers and customers to keep their crops and food fresh for longer, minimizing food loss (~37 %) and improving their food security. 🥗🍞 Last year, these solutions won us a tender from the World Economic Forum, who are now working with us to implement projects on the ground to empower people. The video shows our joint impact and collaboration. Our CEO Wolfgang Rams was also interviewed and summarized the importance of the projects.
