🔍 Explainable Anomaly Detection in Semiconductor Manufacturing 🚀 Excited to share some of the groundbreaking work developed within the AIMS5.0 project from Gian Antonio Susto and Germar Schneider AI-based tools are at the heart of the transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, driving human-centric manufacturing and enhancing sustainability! In Use Case 15 of the AIMS5.0 project, the focus areas of the partners (Infineon Technologies, LFoundry, Statwolf, KAI and @University of Padua) include: ✅ Making AI interpretable ✅ Enhancing scalability of AI solutions ✅ Enabling AI tools in production through MLOps and data integration. Let’s see this in action with our first developed technology: the Explainable Anomaly Detection tool for semiconductor manufacturing. 🔧 Semiconductor manufacturing is a complex process with many critical steps. Anomalies can lead to defects, reducing yield and increasing costs. 💡 What is an anomaly/outlier? Anomaly detection identifies unusual patterns that deviate from the norm. In semiconductor manufacturing, it helps to detect defects early. Traditional methods detect anomalies but lack interpretability. This is where our Explainable Anomaly Detection tool shines, offering: Insights into why an anomaly occurred 🧠 Increased number of detected faults 📈 Improved understanding of root causes 🔍 Enhanced (and faster!) decision-making ⚡ Increased trust in the detection system 🛡️ The system developed is composed of: ✅ Anomaly Detection directly integrated with equipment data ✅ An AI tool that automatically computes an anomaly score for each wafer ✅ Automatic systems that trigger alarms and notifications ✅ A decision support system that allows users to quickly understand the reasons for detected anomalies and act accordingly AI is making semiconductor manufacturing smarter, more efficient, and more reliable. Stay tuned for more updates on how we're shaping the future of manufacturing! 🌍💡 #AI #Manufacturing #Semiconductors #AnomalyDetection #Industry5 #Sustainability #Innovation #CHIPsJU

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗣𝟮: 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 📍 🔊 The main objectives of WP 2 are threefold. First, to provide AI tools, methods and algorithms as a Toolbox, taking the industrial needs and practices of the other #technology WPs in AIMS5.0. 🔎 Second, it will extend the current State of the Art (SOTA) by utilizing AI tools, methods, and algorithms in various stages and levels of sustainable industrial processes. Third, to present UC specific integration methods that lead to actual, working #prototypes in UC WPs - and based on that, the creation of integration guidelines is also a result of this endeavor to improve better time-to-market. 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: ✅ Collect detailed requirements from the UCs, identify reusable parts to be implemented in the form of algorithms/tools/apps, formalize their descriptions and specifications. On revealing the potential gaps in partner collaborations (e.g., use-cases missing AI / ML expertise), data availability and sharing potential, among others. ✅ Create a comprehensive list of all algorithms/tools/apps that are planned to be implemented in this project. Collect the descriptions, plans and details for algorithms and tools which are candidates to be included in the AI toolbox and linked to the respective use cases. So far, 40 items were identified where 24 are algorithms, 13 are tools, 3 are apps covering 12 UCs. Their descriptions were analyzed to find common topics. ✅ Maximize the added value of the developments by considering SOTA in related works and ways of going beyond. ✅ Find common topics in the developments to create expert groups - for sharing knowledge, forming new relationships and facilitate joint development. This information was combined with answers from questionnaires to form 7 expert groups: “Machine Learning Models and Techniques”, “Image Processing”, “Anomaly Detection, Explainable AI”, “Reinforcement Learning, Optimization, Scheduling”, “Data management, Cloud/Edge computing”, “Robotics, automation, process management”, “Natural Language Processing (NLP)”, “Large Language Models (LLMs)”. These groups will facilitate information exchange between people of the project working in the same thematic areas. ✅ Develop further the AI toolbox and provide examples of its added value in a tutorial application. The AI toolbox and the algorithms/tools/apps within it will subsequently extend the current SOTA on utilizing AI tools, methods and algorithms in various stages and levels of sustain-able industrial processes.
