Reto J. Schneider, Global Head of Agriculture, and Qingyao Yu, Client Manager for Agriculture, attended the 15th China Agriculture Reinsurance Rendezvous in Xi’an, Shaanxi, from September 2-5, 2024. The event, with over 110 participants, highlighted the latest in China’s agriculture insurance. Key insights were shared on technologies like facility agriculture, satellite imagery, drones, and AI in hog barns. A site visit to greenhouses offered hands-on learning. It was an enriching opportunity to connect with clients and stay updated on industry developments. "China, being the largest agriculture insurance market, continues to grow rapidly and faces numerous new challenges. Lighting Up Lives: Our Commitment to Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility In today’s rapidly changing world, sustainability and corporate responsibility are more important than ever. This year, we dedicated our annual team-building event to these crucial themes, aiming to inspire our employees in Singapore towards a more sustainable and compassionate future. We chose Jewel Changi, a green-certified venue known for its eco-friendly practices, as our location. Through the ‘Jewel Quest’ challenges, our team learned about Jewel Changi’s green building practices, energy-efficient systems, waste management protocols, and biodiversity conservation efforts. Our activities, designed with corporate social responsibility at their core, included a collaboration with Jambar Team Building and SolarBuddy. Together, we assembled 70 solar-powered lights for children living in extreme energy poverty. Our event was a success, strengthening team bonds and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility. As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, we assembled a team of 12 colleagues who volunteered their time and energy to pack dry food items for distribution to the underprivileged in Singapore. We were also honored to have the presence of Mr Robin Lee, CEO of Food From The Heart, who gave us a tour of their facilities, showcasing their operational space where food is stored, sorted and packed. He also shared their various initiatives and mission to alleviate hunger by providing reliable, consistent and sustainable food support to the less-fortunate through food distribution programs. We are thankful for the inspiring experience and the chance to come together as a team outside of our work environment to interact and engage in a rewarding activity. #foodfromtheheart #allianz #reinsurance

Our earthquake experts Magdalena Perleth and Nicola Giordano recently co-organized a session about earthquake modeling in the (re)insurance world at the international earthquake engineering conference WCEE2024 in Milan, Italy. They have been awarded for their unique and efficient investment structure achieved through the combination of their expertise in equity investments and underwriting in the US. The structure encompasses several major Insurtech deals over the past two years and foresees a robust pipeline for further expansion. The partnership creates a multi-layered competitive advantage by enabling portfolio companies to focus on growth and product development, increasing the equity value for Allianz X investment returns, facilitating the expansion of US property and casualty insurance, and generating additional revenue from reinsurance business at Allianz SE Reinsurance. The Allianz Eagle Awards, a highlight of the Allianz International Management Summit (AZI), showcase outstanding global achievements driving our strategic goals. The AZI, a global annual management summit, convened around 200 executives from across the world from May 27th to 29th, 2024 in Berlin, emphasizing innovation, collaborative problem-solving, and networking. The Allianz Eagle Awards 2024, akin to an Allianz version of the Oscars, recognized outstanding initiatives, projects, and programs in strategic areas.
