Low-Power, Precise NO Sensor Opens Doors for Environmental Improvement, Medical Diagnostics 👃 Scientists from the US and South Korea have developed a novel material that can detect nitric oxide (NO) with incredible accuracy and sensitivity. It utilizes a special type of 2D material called a metal-organic framework (MOF). This can be thought of as a super-organized sponge with tiny pores that can selectively capture NO molecules. 🧽 Key features: 🔎 Ultra-sensitive: Detects even the tiniest amounts of NO. 💯 Reversible: Can be used repeatedly without losing accuracy. 🎯 Selective: Specifically targets NO, minimizing interference from other gases. The research may open up new possibilities for environmental monitoring and personalized medicine.––Big impacts: 🫧 Cleaner air: NO is a major pollutant linked to smog and acid rain. This technology could help monitor air quality and combat environmental damage. 🫁 Medical marvels: NO plays a vital role in the human body. This sensor could enhance disease diagnosis and treatment, especially for conditions like asthma.
