ChatGPT just got an incredible update: Yesterday, OpenAI introduced a search tool within ChatGPT that combines advanced AI to deliver relevant information from our media brands BILD, Business Insider, POLITICO, and Welt as well as the titles of Ringier Axel Springer Polska. The new feature is based on the SearchGPT pilot, for which a select team of journalism and AI experts across Axel Springer provided testing and feedback on. What does this mean for users of SearchGPT? ➡️ User will find more recent content on ChatGPT, including from our trusted media brands. ➡️ ChatGPT’s answers will include attribution and links to news articles, leading users to our media brands’ websites. At Axel Springer, we leverage cutting-edge technology to drive progress and foster the free flow of independent, high-quality journalism through innovation. This commitment has led us to partner with OpenAI in December 2023, making us the first global publishing house to work on a deeper integration of journalism in AI technologies. Swipe through the slideshow to discover insights from Mathias Sanchez, SVP of Global Strategic Partnerships, on the new ChatGPT search feature. ___ Valentin Schöndienst Peter Würtenberger #AI #OpenAI #Technology #SearchGPT #Journalism #AxelSpringer

At yesterday’s "Starke Stimmen" (Strong Voices) lunch in the Journalistenclub at our Berlin headquarters, we welcomed author and speaker Paula Lambert. As a journalist who graduated from the Axel Springer Academy of Journalism & Technology, she spent several years at Welt, and later contributed to media outlets like GEO, DIE ZEIT, and GQ Magazine. Paula shared with participants how self-reflection helped her not only to develop her distinct journalistic voice and style but also to build self-confidence. Organized by the axel springer_women network, these "Starke Stimmen" networking events aim to provide participants with fresh perspectives, strengthened interdisciplinary connections, and practical ideas to apply within their teams. As one of Axel Springer’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), axel springer_women provides a platform for exchange that is open to all employees, regardless of their department or role. Connecting the new generation of decision-makers and talents with young democracy defenders and journalists in exile —that’s the stated goal of the Axel Springer Freedom Foundation’s Young Leaders Network, which was established a year ago. Yesterday, the network came together at Soho House Berlin to welcome its second batch of members, composed of opposition leaders, journalists, politicians, and CEOs. Held under the motto “Autocracy & Tech,” the evening included a panel discussion on the usage of technologies in autocracies with Leopoldo Lopez (Venezuelan freedom fighter, Co-founder and General Secretary World Liberty Congress), Olaf Boehnke (Senior Advisor & Berlin Director, Alliance of Democracies Foundation) and Lokman Tsui (Expert on Authoritarianism and Tech, Digital Citizen Lab), which was moderated by Rebecca Schönenbach (Founder of Frauen für Freiheit e. V.). The Young Leaders Network is supported by the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie. Want to see what Antje Schippmann, Leopoldo Lopez, and network member Solveig Rathenow had to say about the young leaders and the panel discussion?
