In addition to BLUU Seafood, WeSort.AI GmbH, an exciting start-up from Würzburg, is also in the final. Founders Nathanael Laier and Johannes Laier 赖翰思 have developed a technology that enables waste separation using AI. What a powerful idea! The prize is awarded by the partners stern, Sparkasse, ZDF and Porsche AG. The initiative is also supported by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz. 😖 Unfortunately, bad news from the seas and oceans! 👩🎓 A new study by the University of Tasmania shows that even recommended fish catches were set too high. This means that overfishing is threatening fish stocks in many parts of the world more than assumed. 🐟 According to the study, almost a third of the stocks classified by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as “maximally sustainably fished” are actually overfished. 🐠 This means that 85 percent more fish populations than previously estimated have collapsed, i.e. shrunk to less than 10 percent of their historical maximum. 👉 We urgently need alternatives! BLUU Seafood is working on this! But we are also always happy to hear from supporters.
