Revamping and repowering for solar installations are becoming increasingly important, especially given the rising number of large-scale PV systems that will reach the end of their official lifespan after 20 years of operation in the coming years. This trend is not surprising. Revamping and repowering are ideal concepts for ensuring the continued operation of these existing systems. In an interview with The smarter E, our expert Tomaso Charlemont provided insights into the background and challenges of modernizing PV systems. Some of the key takeaways: 🌞 Revamping is typically applied when a system starts losing efficiency or faces technical issues. 🌞 Repowering leverages technological advancements in components to increase the system's nominal capacity. 🌞 As with any new project, there are various marketing options for the electricity generated after modernization. 🌞 Revamping and repowering projects are inherently more complex due to the nature of existing systems and require precise planning. 🌞 With the passing of the Solar Package in Germany, regulatory frameworks were established that already exist in France, Italy, and Spain. 🌞 Over 95 percent of the materials in a solar module can now be recycled. More details on the possibilities of revamping and repowering can be found in the full interview with Tomaso: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dr7-a-2F #bwreDE

We are excited to share some groundbreaking news for the development of solar energy in Sweden! 🌞 Today, the permit for Sweden's largest hybrid park, combining both solar and wind power, has officially come into effect. The solar park, which will be connected to the Lyngsåsa wind farm in Alvesta, Småland, will span 140 hectares. Together, the hybrid park will produce 425 GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply household electricity (excluding heating) to 85,000 homes! Both the wind farm and the solar park will have a capacity of 95 MW each. A hybrid park that combines wind and solar power has many advantages. Since these energy sources produce at different times of the day and year, it results in a more reliable and profitable power plant. Additionally, the land used for the solar park is already designated for energy production, minimizing conflicts with natural and cultural values. But the good news doesn’t stop there! The solar park is also the first in Sweden to receive an environmental permit, meaning we’ve voluntarily chosen a process where the project has been through a more thorough review by authorities, but at the same time the permit cannot be changed over time. This provides stability and strong long-term conditions, perfectly aligning with how we at BayWa r.e. Nordic aim to work! We are proud to have led this process in partnership with our client SUSI Partners and look forward to contributing even more renewable energy to Sweden. 🌍⚡️ #renewableenergy #solarenergy #windpower #hybridpark #permit #sustainability #innovation #bwreSD
