Celebrating another accepted paper for conference presentation! Another paper co-authored by Prof. Dr. Ivan Yamshchikov with Gleb Schmidt and Svetlana Gorovaia, titled “Sui Generis: Large Language Models for Authorship Attribution and Verification in Latin”, has been accepted to the Conference on NLP for Digital Humanities #NLP4DH. This work demonstrates that large language models can accurately determine authorship of historical Latin texts without requiring additional training. Congratulations to Ivan, Gleb, and Svetlana on this achievement! CAIRO at MDIS 2024 in Sibiu! Prof. Dr. Magda Gregorova and MAI student Esther Ademola recently represented CAIRO at #MDIS2024 in Sibiu, Romania! Magda Gregorova introduced the work of her collaborators and herself in the keynote titled "Deep Generative Modelling – Beyond Language and Videos", while Esther Ademola presented her MAI project paper, "An Investigative Study Exploring Machine Learning Approaches for Optimizing Deep Brain Stimulation Programming." The paper shall be published in the conference proceedings within the next couple of months. A BIG thank you to Prof. Dr. Dana Simian and the Research Center in Informatics and Information Technology of Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (#ULBS) for organizing the event. And Sibiu – what a fantastic city to visit! #cairo #MDIS2024 #airesearch #deeplearning #thws

Congratulations to cairo research professor Prof. Dr. Ivan Yamshchikov and team! We are proud to share that Prof. Dr. Ivan Yamshchikov, together with MAI exchange student Priyanka Singh and Vladislav Mosin, have had their paper titled "Vocabulary Transfer for Medical Texts" accepted to the CustomNLP Workshop. Their work builds on the "vocabulary transfer" method, which adapts neural networks to specific text types with minimal computational resources. Their research demonstrates that increasing vocabulary size not only speeds up model inference but also improves accuracy—particularly useful for medical and biological texts with specialized terminology. Links to the paper can be found in the comments below. A big thank you to Prof. Dr. Ivan Yamshchikov and all the co-authors for their amazing work! 🚀 #cairo #airesearch #nlp #languagemodels #thws #research #paperpublication #customnlpworkshop

Congrats! 🥳 With the team of Frank Deinzer on board, cairo.thws will never get lost ! 😄
It worked. Once again! Winner of the onsite track on smartphone-based indoor localization. This year, however, the scenario and environment at Hong Kong Polytechnic University was very challenging. We discovered over 4000 access points throughout the 8-story building. At the end of the day, we realized that our radio-based model not only did not work as expected, but also required more than 16GB of RAM, which is obviously problematic for a smartphone. So we canceled our sightseeing plans and integrated a more robust and flexible radio propagation model that we had introduced a few years earlier. Without further testing, we met the competition, and fortunately, everything worked out great. Thanks to the team: Markus, Frank and Max for the great work. Also big thanks to all the nice people at IPIN conference and the organizer of the competition Filippo, Antonino, Joaquín, Miguel, Ni, Wenchao, Francesco and all the other. Also big thanks to cronn GmbH and cairo.thws for the great support. See you in Tampere!
