Yesterday, I had an eye opening experience on how far we have come in #emobility and how little that is present to a wider audience.
Let me explain.
On my quick EV daytrip from Munich to Stuttgart I didn’t even bother to check charging options before leaving with „only“ 80% SoC. The Hyundai Motor Europe #IONIQ5 routed to charging stops quite cautiously, so I kept ignoring it, and it re-routed stoically to other good options. Finally, I chose #EWEGo in Merklingen next to an #Aralpulse, an IONITY and a Tesla location. On the way back I had #EnBW, Allego, Sortimo International GmbH and more options to choose from, I checked charging service prices in #MOOVILITYApp s #AppleCarPlay, and stopped to top up just 30km to Munich at a drive through/8-stall/HPC charge park of Energie Südbayern GmbH with a great 0,48€/kWh-adhoc rate (a good 10min stop at 173kW, almost the cars top speed, cashing in 200km of range)
During the day though, I encounted the non-EV bubble. It was telling me that EV long distance travel wouldn’t work, due to missing chargers, queing and what not. While a living specimen proving the contrary was sitting in front of them. I realized again, the EV charging reality is not present to the wider public!
Also, just last Wednesday, I was happy to discuss at the electrive #LIVE panel the state of #emob regarding smart charging, #dynamicpricing, #adhoc payments #incar, grid integration, #V2G, HPC location queing monitoring, digital capacity management, etc. with Marcus Fendt Ludwig Hohenlohe Max Brandt Peter Schwierz That felt lightyears ahead/away from the reality check yesterday.
Conclusio
It tells me, we - the EV bubble - need to step out even more to accelerate the adoption of clean electric driving.
We, at CIRRANTIC, are currently powering up #sponsoredcharging with great partners like Visa to raise awareness also outside the current EV driver base #WalletSpecialmitVisa. And with CHARGING RADAR, the #marketinsights are brought to media partners like #edison, AUTO BILD Hamburg, etc. More to come!
What do you think, our EV bubble should do better?
