Is the comeback of #userresearch happening? It surely looks like that, according to the latest state of the product job market report by Live Data Technologies and Lenny Rachitsky. User Research is second among the fastest growing roles. Some thoughts and context: - The analysis is for the US market and thus may look different in other countries. - I didn't have a detailed look at the data collection method. Lenny explains it in his post (see link in comments) and I trust that it's solid but that's all I can say for now. - User Research comes from a lower base than the other roles. As Lenny notes: "There are only around 14,000 active UXR roles in the U.S., according to the data, and about 200 are being hired each month." I know this doesn't directly help those who are still looking for a job in user research and potentially got several rejections. It may offer some orientation and motivation though, especially since hiring seems to be picking up since the beginning of the year.

For 7 months we have a dedicated in-house User Researcher on our team here at Condens, and I can see that it’s really been making a difference. As a research company, we’ve been doing research since day 1, but since Sina is working on it full-time we’re able to achieve a lot more. User Researchers are often part of Product or Design teams, so their work is usually in these areas. And while that’s also the case for Sina, I’ve seen how her support has benefited our other teams as well, including Marketing and Customer Success. For example, she’s been carrying out a user journey study with Lena, our Head of Marketing in order to gain more insights into how researchers evaluate and purchase software tools. Another example is how she’s supporting the Customer Success team in understanding and improving the onboarding experience of new Condens users. The resulting insights often challenge our previous ideas, sometimes confirm what we implicitly knew, and allow us to approach new, strategic topics. It’s great to see how user research can positively impact various areas of an organization. Thanks for all your contributions, Sina 🙌

Some of us were super sure that they wanted to do this. And some of us were less sure. Some of us are experienced runners. And some of us just started running 1 month ago. Some of us finished 5K in 20-something minutes. And some of us finished in 30-something minutes. But all of us had fun and are super proud of each other for finishing what we set out to do! Couldn’t ask for a more positive and encouraging group of people to run with than Chandramohan, Matěj, Lena, Sina, Erik, Bernadett and Phillis 🙌 I think we can safely recommend participating in B2run as a great team bonding exercise! 😁👍🏼

2 team events a year (1 summer and 1 winter) is becoming a Condens tradition. This past weekend, we went down to Chiemsee for some kletterwalding (forest climbing) and got to spend some time together outside of the work environment. It came as a surprise to no one that Mati is great at climbing and easily beat the hardest obstacle course. But what was awesome to see was that many others were also up for trying it out and made it through! We then went down to the lake for a great lunch with a beautiful view of the Bavarian landscape and mountains. It was a beautiful day, and a great way to spend time together as a team. Thank you for organizing this one Bernadett!
