As AfricaGrow, supported by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ), we are proud to have been able to bring promising GPs to the Africa Venture Finance Program as Speedinvest. Congratulations to Deepali Nangia and Enrique Martinez Hausmann for winning with Moove the “Best Deal of the Year”
Partner: Speedinvest - Emerging Markets, Gender Lens Investing, Micro GPs, Co-Founder - Alma Angels, Awarded Linklaters 'Pioneering Woman of the Year' - 2024
Our portco Moove was voted ‘Deal of the Year’ by LPs at the annual Africa Venture Finance program at the University of Oxford this past week. We were first institutional investors into Moove, which raised a Series B earlier this year led by Uber and Mubadala. Africa’s first mobility startup was led & pitched by our own Enrique Martinez Hausmann, a member of our EM team and Moove board member, to a jury of leading global DFIs. Africa Venture Finance Week, an invite-only event, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Boost Africa Technical Assistance Facility by the European Investment Bank (EIB). Thank you for having us. Enrique breaks down the 3 strategic decisions the company has made that he believes have been crucial to their continued growth ⬇ https://lnkd.in/emGw6Cf8 cc: Ladi Delano, Jide Odunsi, Tingting Peng Rana Abdel Latif Alvaro Perezcano Oliver Holle Varun Rekhi Nikunj Jinsi Faisal Juma Khalfan Belhoul AlFalasi Proparco Allianz Global Investors IFC - International Finance Corporation David van Dijk EBRD Bpifrance

📈 Technology is increasingly a driver of socioeconomic development. Investors such as #AfricaGrow have increasingly focused on this sector to fund impactful and scalable companies. ⚠️ However, there is uncertainty on how to understand and manage technology-linked ESG risks in a way that is commensurate with the maturity and exposure of early-stage technology companies. Existing industry efforts are not consolidated. 🛣️ Together with DEG, we commissioned a Market Study on Responsible Investment in Technology and a set of Investor Guidelines that can be plugged into existing Environmental and Social Management Systems. 👇 Browse through the investor guidelines below or download them, directly. 👉 Click here for the market study: https://lnkd.in/e3eYmif4 📅 Join us on July 18th, from 10:00 – 11:00 CET or 15:00 – 16:00 CET for a webinar on MS Teams to learn more about the topic. To participate in one of the two webinars please register here: Webinar 1 (10:00 – 11:00 CET): https://lnkd.in/e9Rb7Rhe Webinar 2 (15:00 – 16:00 CET) : https://lnkd.in/e4wcKPjn #venturecapital #technology #esg #impactinvesting #sustainableinvesting 👏 A big thank you to the team of Steward Redqueen and our colleagues at DEG and DEG Impulse!
