Our North American Underwriting Team had the pleasure of attending this year's AmericanAg® PreNAMIC Conference in Vancouver, followed by National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC)’s Annual Convention in Denver. We met with many familiar faces, clients, and brokers to discuss the current state of the North American P&C market. We gained insight and gathered updates on the latest market trends and developments in the Mutual space while discussing expectations and topics for the upcoming renewal. Over the past two years, insurers have made big steps forward in achieving rate adequacy, keeping insurance to value up-to-date and introducing percentage wind/hail deductibles. It was great seeing improved results and discussing further steps to accelerate the progress and our clients’ overall performance even further. We are excited to bring these insights back home to Cologne and look forward to the upcoming renewal season where we strive for continuous support of our clients' success. We were proud to co-sponsor and participate in the IUMI 2024 conference in Berlin, which celebrated 150 years of advancing marine insurance. This year's theme, "Building on 150 Years of Enabling Global Commerce", accurately reflected the pivotal role our industry plays in supporting international trade, even as we face evolving challenges. The key discussions addressed the impact of geopolitical tensions, environmental regulations and shifting trade patterns on marine insurance. The conference provided our team with invaluable insights into new technologies, sustainable shipping and state-of-the-art innovations, which will undoubtedly influence the future of our sector. Engaging with global leaders in marine insurance was not only enriching but also a chance to bring back fresh ideas and strategies to implement in our own work. A big thank you to the organisers and all the thought leaders who contributed the meaningful conversations. (K-Tagung 8/13) „Steigende Schäden aus Naturkatastrophen demonstrieren Versicherungen eindrücklich, dass der Klimawandel schon heute akut ist 🌍“, sagte Sara Schiffer (hylane). Um dieser Entwicklung entgegenzuwirken, investieren die DEVK Versicherungen schon lange in nachhaltige Projekte 🌱. 2021 ging der Versicherer mit dem Aufbau von hylane einen weiteren Schritt und übernimmt Verantwortung für die Dekarbonisierung des schweren Straßengüterverkehrs 🚛 – einem Sektor, der für einen Großteil der Emissionen im Transportbereich verantwortlich ist. „2021 in Köln gegründet, setzt sich die hylane für nachhaltige und innovative Transporte ein“, erläuterte Schiffer. „Dafür stellt hylane klimaschonende Fahrzeuge verschiedener Hersteller in einem nutzungsbasierten Mietmodell bereit. Führende Transportunternehmen wie DB Schenker, Hermes oder REWE vertrauen bereits auf das Mietmodell der hylane und sammeln risikoarm Erfahrungen mit neuen Technologien - denn sie zahlen nur die tatsächlich gefahrenen Kilometer“, merkte Schiffer an. Geschäftsführerin Sara Schiffer nahm die Teilnehmenden in ihrem Vortrag mit auf die Reise der hylane – von der initialen Gründung als Tochtergesellschaft der DEVK Versicherungen, über die Zulassung des ersten Wasserstoff-Lkw in Deutschland bis hin zum Betrieb von Europas größter Wasserstoff-Lkw-Flotte. #KfzVersicherung #Branchentreff #KTagung

We’ve just wrapped up a productive two-day Renewal Kickoff at DEVK RE. Our agenda included positioning for the 2025 renewal, exploring new catastrophe models, refining processes within our analytics, and much more. It was a fantastic opportunity to align strategies and foster collaboration across teams. We’re excited to see the progress we‘ll make as we prepare for the renewal season ahead, as well as discussing with our partners at the upcoming conferences!
