We're happy to have kicked-off our new European Union-funded project in Uzbekistan! Yesterday in Tashkent, more than 70 Uzbek government representatives, embassies of the EU member states in Uzbekistan, non-governmental and international organizations, and Uzbek media attended the launch event. Thank you Toivo K., EU Ambassador in Uzbekistan, for your opening remarks! The project "Tabassum" ("Smile"), promotes #genderequality and empowers young women in Uzbekistan. The focus is on practical skills for gender constructive reporting, recognizing gendered disinformation and media campaigning among journalists, bloggers, youth and women’s civil society organizations. During our kick-off camp, 30 participants, together with trainers Angela Pi Altendorfer and Kyle James, will be honing their skills in countering gendered disinformation, conducting trainings and creating media messages on gender equality. "Tabassum" is funded by the EU and co-supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is implemented by DW Akademie and our partner, the Modern Journalism Development Center (MJDC), based in Uzbekistan. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e6M8bw9Y
