🌍 Future People: Daniel's Adventure between Culture and Career in Shanghai 🌍 Who wouldn't feel it – the excitement just before departing from Hamburg Airport towards Shanghai. Daniel Rusteberg, 28, had already gained many international experiences before joining us as a trainee, but the upcoming three-month stay abroad was a real highlight for him once again. Today, nearly three months later, all these learning experiences are making young talents like Daniel future ready. 😊 "Internationality is more than just an adventure for me – it's a way of life. The exchange with people from different cultures enriches me personally and helps me constantly learn new things about myself." During his stay in China, Daniel went through many exciting stations: 🔬 Several weeks in the lab to learn all the processes. 📊 Participation in an audit at the Eppendorf calibration lab in Guangzhou. 🚚 Working with Field Support at customer sites, including Zhejiang University in Hangzhou The traineeship at Eppendorf not only offers international opportunities but also the chance to take on responsibility and build a strong network. 🎉 Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators 2024 goes to Dr. Clemens Plaschka! 🎉 The independent jury, chaired by Prof. Laura Machesky from University of Cambridge, UK, selected Dr. Clemens Plaschka from the IMP – Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, Austria, as this year's winner. Dr. Plaschka receives the 20,000 euro prize for his groundbreaking research on the molecular machines that generate and export messenger RNA. Finalists also included Dr. Irma Querques from Max Perutz Laboratories, University of Vienna, Austria, for her innovative work on transposon-mediated genetic manipulation and CRISPR-associated transposition, and Dr. Phong Nguyen from Hubrecht Institute, Utrecht, Netherlands, for his pioneering research on heart regeneration mechanisms. The award ceremony took place on June 27, 2024, at the Advanced Training Center of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany.
