“An excellent trade fair highlight at this year's #Fakuma is the 3D-printed center console from Bayerische Motoren Werke,” explains Thilo Stier from AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH. For the first time in large-scale automotive production, a component made of bio-based polymer with recycled carbon fiber was created using the 3D printing process. The outstanding implementation, the low carbon footprint and the impressive strength of the component impressed the SPE AutomotiveAward jury so much that it achieved the highest score across all categories.
