Der Fashion Council Germany e. V. ist die zentrale Interessenvertretung der deutschen Modebranche. Ziel ist es, deutsches Modedesign als Kultur- und Wirtschaftsgut zu fördern und zu etablieren, wie es in Ländern wie Frankreich oder Großbritannien bereits seit vielen Jahren selbstverständlich ist. Erreicht wird das durch eine gezielte Förderung des Designnachwuchses aus Deutschland, die gemeinsame Steuerung der nationalen Aktivitäten und die Stärkung der Wahrnehmung deutschen Designs im In- und Ausland. These 19 brands, amongst them one Ukrainian and one African based brand, will be presenting their collections in a fashion presentation or show during the February 2025 edition.

The work of our FASHION x CRAFT designers is part of the 10th anniversary exhibition of The King's Foundation Future Textiles at The Garrison Chapel in London. The six emerging designers split into 2 groups of three and created two beautiful coats with fabric provided by Harris Tweed Hebrides The relationship between The King's Foundation and FCG focuses on sharing solutions to the current challenges in the fashion industry and the preservation of craftsmanship. As part of the Fashion x Craft initiative, the program explores the rich heritage of traditional crafts while experimenting with a variety of different techniques such as weaving, woodwork and decorative plasterwork. The exhibition, which features other highly crafted garments, designs and textiles by talented designers and artists, is open until Friday 15th of November. And just like that, the delegation trip comes to an end! On Friday, the group had one last appointment with CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund winner and German born designer Melitta Baumeister at her atelier. She shared her career story as well as valuable insights on selling in the US. An informal goodbye was held afterwards, where the participants had the chance to discuss their first impressions of the week before heading back home. We want to thank all the network partners who made this trip possible! We look forward to our next delegation trip in April 2025. Our fourth day of the delegation trip was filled with more insightful appointments. The first point on the agenda was meeting Karina Trofimova, founder of Haus Incubator! She taught the group more about US retail and discussed the individual brand strategies. Afterwards, the delegation participants got a deep dive into NYFW and other initiatives of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Director of Fashion Week initiatives Joseph Maglieri shared valuable insights about his work. They also discussed Berlin Fashion Week and how to possibly use synergies in the future. In the afternoon, the group met PR expert Lindsey Solomon from Lindsey Media, whose agency focuses on fashion and lifestyle communications especially for emerging brands. We have reached the halfway point of our delegation trip! Today, the group started their day with a tour at doors.nyc to learn more about their retail and PR before being given an overview of DOOR's inside workings with Alise Trautmane-Uzuner and Kristine Papane The morning was followed by a visit at the Nordstrom Flagship Store, where Jian DeLeon took the time to show the group around the store and shared insights on one of America’s biggest retailers. In the afternoon the delegation met one of the founders of Café Forgot, Lucy Weisner. She gave insights into what it is like to own a retail store. For the last stop of the day, we headed over to Atelier Jolie, a creative space founded by Angelina Jolie that aims to bring the community together to create with a focus on sustainability. During our Berlin Fashion X International delegation trip, we hosted one of our FCG Fireside Dinners in New York City! The exclusive dinner was accompanied by Chef Simon Cordes and his unique German fusion cuisine at the prestigious Loft 29 - A unique creative place in the heart of NYC. The guest list included the participating fashion brands, as well as various industry experts, photographers, stylists and network partners. The delegation started their Tuesday at the FIT DTech Lab to learn more about the latest innovations of fashion & tech in the US! The morning was followed up with a factory visit at New York Embroidery Studio where the group got hands-on experience about the manufacturing and design process of garments. In the afternoon they met Julie Anne Quay, CEO of VFILES and spoke about the process of empowering and uplifting minorities in the fashion and music industry. We also had the privilege of an exciting meeting with Mark Holgate and his team from Vogue where our brands were provided with more insights and details of the US market. The evening was rounded out with an FCG Fireside Dinner with an exquisit dinner menue by Chef Simon Cordes at Loft 29 - A unique creative place in the heart of NYC. Our Berlin Fashion X International group has arrived in NYC for a third delegation trip. The journey was kicked off with a welcome meeting at the Berlin Business Office USA and was followed by Jens Daum from German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. who taught about how to do business in the US with the focus point on legal framework and cultural differences. Emma Oleck then talked about ‘Celebrity Dressing’, her work as a stylist and what it is like to work with some of the biggest names in the industry. The ‘Pitch Prep’ in the evening was led by Kim Lenar-Ehrhardt and prepared our brands for their pitch presentations. At 16 Beaver Studio, our nine brands and designers presented what they had learned and were judged by an esteemed panel of jury members: Lili Radu from VEE COLLECTIVE, Head of Creativity at Swarovski Maika Nakaoka, Managing Director at Samsung & CT Fashion Group Joan HeeJhong Myung and Melissa Wiggins from BPCM. We are looking forward to the next few days of expert meetings and inspiring conversations! Stay tuned for exciting updates. We are excited to share the nine participating brands and designers of our delegation trip to New York City next week: Alan Balletshofer, Carolin Dieler, Clara Colette Miramon, Effenberger Couture, Gerrit Jacob, Human Touch, Marie Lueder, SELVA HUYGENS & Vladimir Karaleev. As part of our Berlin Fashion X International initiative they will experience a 5-day program full of workshops, networking events, company visits and various other activities. Throughout the week, participants will be introduced to a curated network of retailers, buying experts, industry leaders, stylists and other key figures.
