📌 How to set up a forced perspective shoot: FMX Masterclass with Todd Sheridan Perry 🎞️ Todd Sheridan Perry works in the film industry as a freelance visual effects supervisor/artist as well as a screenwriter, editor and director. He played key roles in projects ranging from “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”, “Chronicles of Riddick”, and “2012” to Marvel productions like “Doctor Strange” and “Black Panther”. 💡 At FMX - Film & Media Exchange he went into detail about the “old-school” effects filmmaking in the Amazon series “I’m A Virgo” by director Boots Riley, including in-camera effects with forced perspective shooting, large and small puppets, miniatures, practical effects and many specialized scale set-ups. “I’m a Virgo” was nominated for a Visual Effects Society Award for Best Practical FX. 🎯 The next day, Todd delivered a masterclass on how to set up a forced perspective shoot, right there at FMX as a hands-on demo for attendees. 📌 Why collaboration is better: the Change through Mentorship panel at FMX 2024 🔌 Building strong connections in the creative industries, improving professional networks for support, striving for equal opportunities and participation: Three successful women discussed these important topics at FMX - Film & Media Exchange 2024 in a panel titled "Being the Change Through Mentorship". Imke Fehrmann, Curator of the Managing Change track at FMX, invited Nosipho Maketo-van den Bragt and Julie Ann Crommett on stage. 🥉 All three are members of WIA (Women in Animation). Imke is the Global Head of Production at RISE | Visual Effects Studios and has been producing animation and visual effects for almost 30 years. She has managed and produced innovative projects all around the world, building and leading creative teams. Julie Ann has been working in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) space for over fourteen years at companies like Google and The Walt Disney Company. As founder and CEO of Collective Moxie, she works with organizations large and small on revolutionizing their DEI strategies. Nosipho is the founder and CEO of the production company Chocolate Tribe as well as the founder of the FMX partner event AVIJOZI, an animation, VFX and interactive gathering taking place in Johannesburg on September 14 and 15. #FMX2024 #mentorship #animation #vfx

FMX - Film & Media Exchange is sharing a panel from this year’s conference: “AI is now at the Gates of VFX & Animation”. 💬 Andrew Cochrane, curator of this year’s Artificial Intelligence track at FMX, debated on stage at FMX with his speakers Elena Garces García, Ben Hansford and Bilawal Sidhu, joined by moderator Mike Seymour.
