PhD candidate (Promovendus) | Augmented Reality Cueing in Parkinsons disease | MSc Human Movement Scienes

🎉 Milestone achieved! 🎉 We’ve reached an important milestone with project CAPARE, funded by EMIL-XR, by including our 100th and final participant in our pragmatic RCT! The project focuses on cueing-assisted, gamified augmented-reality rehabilitation to improve gait and balance in people with #Parkinsons disease using the Strolll AR platform. Participants train at home for 6 weeks, with the intervention starting under the guidance of a physical therapist in the clinic, before transitioning to independent training at home, monitored remotely by the therapist. We expect to share the first results in Spring 2025. A big thank you to everyone who made this progress possible! Atlas V is a Paris-based production studio specialising in immersive and interactive content. They received funding as part of EMIL’s second funding call last year to develop an immersive exhibition with Aardman Animations, the animation studio behind beloved shows and films such as Wallace and Grommet, Chicken Run, and Shaun the Sheep. They have reached an important milestone in their project and are ready to begin playtesting the exhibition, which will invite participants to join Shaun the Sheep and his Mossy Bottom friends in one of their zany adventures. Later this month, they will bring a proof-of-concept of “Aardman & Friends: The Immersive Exhibition” to a multimedia event space in Lyon, France. They are looking for participants to help them playtest the experience and give feedback, so if you’re in the area, please register to attend via the Google form linked below. Last Tuesday 17th of September saw the first use of the ARML within the context of an artistic exhibition. Francisco Macia Varela from the UPF team worked alongside artists Niall Hill from UCL and Rafa Roeder from Goldsmiths to build an immersive installation titled “Supercel”. The project received funding from the Generalitat de Catalunya and had its opening as one of three pieces in the Immensiva Expo at the Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture in Barcelona. Supercel is a collaborative immersive installation that combines experimental projective AR and physical Arduino devices to deliver an interactive narrative set at a weather balloon launch in a drought-stricken future Catalunya. In the shadow of a Romanesque church in a dead reservoir, we are prompted by urgent radio instructions as we prep for a high-tech cloud seeding mission. The ARML was implemented as an in-universe high-tech device used to scan the space for environmental readings to be input in the Arduino machines for the mission. https://lnkd.in/d_6rZgEy
