The excitement was high for today’s “Ask us Anything” Town Hall. With the full Management Board on stage, employees from around the globe – both virtually and in person at our headquarters in Bad Homburg, Germany – had the opportunity to ask our leaders, well, anything!   The event was a resounding success, with the open-dialogue format creating an engaging and dynamic exchange. Our hearts break for everyone affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in the U.S., and the evolving situation underway across parts of the Middle East.    I am beyond proud of our teams every day, and particularly in times of crisis. By sheer force of will, nearly all of our Fresenius Kidney Care clinics along Helene’s path of destruction are now operational. In the Middle East, the exhausting and often dangerous work of moving patients to sheltered clinics and keeping our employees as safe as possible continues in earnest. In areas where many of our employees have families and friends, work is underway to stay connected, provide assistance and safe passage. And of course, in Ukraine and Russia – where yet another conflict continues – our focus is on providing continuity of safe, reliable care for our patients and support for our employees.    Kidney disease cares not for weather, borders, ideologies, nor politics. Our job is to care for all, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.    #ProudToBeFME

Nearly two years ago, our Ogden plant in Utah, U.S., started an impactful project to reduce the site’s water usage and the amount of fresh water we withdraw from local sources – a critical need given the dry local climate. Engineers from Ogden collaborated with colleagues across Europe and Asia to improve their wastewater management. They discovered that dialyzer rinse water could replace the more costly water for injection sterility without compromising safety, allowing the plant to save water. They are also reducing costs and contributing to our #FME25 initiative. The new solution captures and reuses water that was previously discharged, leading to an annual recovery of approximately 130 million gallons (~ 490 million liters) at the Ogden plant which is around 20% of the site’s total water withdrawal.
