It’s important to have diverse teams developing and deploying technology. If we look at this from a perspective of building technology that works for all different groups of people in the way it’s intended to, Rana el Kaliouby, Ph.D. el Kaliouby has a big point here. “If more women worked in #STEM, I think technology would be able to solve more problems for more people. It goes back to the need for diversity of all kinds – gender, ethnicity, age, education and perspective – in technology.” In our pool of interviews we had a privilege to talk to Rana who is a pioneer in artificial emotional intelligence, as well as the co-founder and CEO of Affectiva, the acclaimed #AI startup that spun off from MIT Media Lab, and AI advisor for Smart Eye. Read about her journey that started in Cairo, #Egypt, all the way to her computer science degree, and Ph.D. That all led to starting her own company that she runs being a single mom. If it is possible, then I will find a way to do it.” This sounds simple. And that’s exactly what she has done.
