This Monday marks the start of National Pathology Week. With the incidence of infectious diseases rising in the winter months, it’s more important than ever to be aware of common diseases and how to combat them. Growth hormone deficiency means the pituitary gland does not make enough growth hormone. This can be present at birth or caused by an injury or a medical condition. During the winter months, transmission of infectious diseases is far more common. Colder, drier air, plus increased time spent indoors and the body’s weakened immune system all contribute to the increased likelihood of infectious diseases being transmitted. Now the clocks have changed and the winter months are rolling in, infectious diseases (ID) are likely to be more common than ever.
