🤝IMAGINE Kick Off Meeting was succesfully concluded. On 12 and 13 June more than 50 consortium members from different institutions and countries across Europe gathered in the Imaging Centre EMBL Heidelberg and online to officially start the project. In engaging networking sessions we discussed about our joint goals in #imaging technology development and brainstormed how to best work across work packages, scales and technologies right from the start. #imagingtechniques #HorizonEurope #IMAGINEhorizonEurope

Next generation imaging technologies to probe structure & function of biological specimen in their natural context
Info
Next generation imaging technologies to probe structure and function of biological specimen across scales in their natural context - focuses on developing and integrating four major disruptive microscopy technologies: X-ray imaging, cryo electron microscopy, cryo and dynamic super-resolution microscopy and large volume intravital light microscopy and AI-powered image analysis and data integration/sharing capabilities. - This project is funded by the European Union (GA#101094250). Views and opinions expressed are however those of the authors only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union. 📌 IMAGINE participated the EMBO Course “Imaging Marine Organisms Across Scales”, 9-12 April 2024 in Napoli. 🔬Commited to advance imaging across scales, IMAGINE is proud to introduce and engage with various stakeholders through joining this course. IMAGINE Consortium members from different WPs presented and demonstrated first results in technology development. Especially through WP5 on "Development of innovative image-based sorting tools and methods for deployment in the field” and the support of EMBRC-ERIC the IMAGINE project will hopefully connect and collaborate with many marine biologists in the future. 📣 How IMAGINE will push technology transfer? 📋 This WP will develop pipelines and procedures to bring new scientific instrumentation developed in WP1 to WP5 more rapidly to market taking advantage of their fast validation in broad user communities by the service providers. It will set up the key processes needed to enable effective technology transfer from academia to industry, thus reducing the gap between early-stage technology invention and product development and maximising the socio-economic impact of the IMAGINE project. 🤝 The work package is led by EMBL Enterprise Management Technology Transfer GmbH (EMBLEM) as the commercial arm and technology transfer office of EMBL. Additional partners include Leica Microsystems, Euro-BioImaging, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Instruct ERIC, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, PSI Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), and ARINAX. 🌐 Read more about IMAGINE's efforts in context of commercialisation on https://lnkd.in/es7qeXus

📣 Introducing the next Work Package - what is IMAGINE envisioning to contribute to the European Research Infrastructures? 📋 WP10 will ensure that the Research Infrastructure staff in charge of service provision to the scientific community will be trained on operating and using the new technologies and tools developed in WP1 to WP6. It will include the organisation of online and in-person training events as well as shadowing visits of the technology and tool operators to the sites which have carried out the technology development. 🤝 The work package is led by Euro-BioImaging. Additional partners include ESRF - The European Synchrotron, Rosalind Franklin Institute, Ghent University, Instruct ERIC, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Leica Microsystems, ARINAX, and EMBL. 🌐 Read more about IMAGINE's training here: https://lnkd.in/eKcPFVwR

📣 What happens once the service validation of technologies developed by IMAGINE is done? 📋 WP11 aims at integrating new bioimaging tools, instruments and methods for their user access readiness in common infrastructure workflows across facilities associated with Euro-BioImaging ERIC, Instruct ERIC and EMBRC - European Marine Biological Resource Centre ERIC, as well as the infrastructure partners of European interest ESRF - The European Synchrotron and EMBL, with a focus on correlative methods. Furthermore, it will explore the links of the project partners with other existing ERICs and RIs external to the consortium. 🤝 The work package is led by Euro-BioImaging. Additional partners include ESRF, Instruct ERIC, EMBRC ERIC, and EMBL. 🌐 Read more about IMAGINE's validation and service integration here: https://lnkd.in/e2ai-Yyb

📣 How can one carry out service on technologies developed by IMAGINE in context of marine science, especially to advance knowledge on marine organisms and their role in ecosystems and the environment in general? 📋 WP9 aims at preparing the relevant tools, instruments and methods developed in WP1-6 for service provision at or in collaboration with EMBRC marine research centres. It will include defining the challenges posed by marine research needs and specificities, adapting the new technologies to the samples of marine origin, and use cases dealing with representative applications for the novel technologies in marine research. 🤝 The work package is led by EMBRC - European Marine Biological Resource Centre-ERIC. Additional partners include EMBRC Node (Sorbonne Université ), EMBRC Node (Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea), and EMBRC Node (Universidade de Vigo). 🌐 Read more about IMAGINE's validation and service integration here: https://lnkd.in/e2ai-Yyb
