Das Import Promotion Desk (IPD) ist eine Initiative zur Importförderung in Deutschland. Es bildet ein Scharnier zwischen kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen in ausgewählten Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländern und europäischen Importeuren sowie Reiseveranstaltern. Ziel ist es, die Partnerländer in den globalen Handel zu integrieren und damit einen Beitrag zur nachhaltigen wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und ökologischen Entwicklung in diesen Ländern zu leisten. Das IPD eröffnet kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen aus den Partnerländern den Zugang zum EU-Markt und unterstützt sie beim Aufbau von Handelsbeziehungen. Europäischen Unternehmen erschließt das IPD neue Bezugsquellen in den Partnerländern und unterstützt sie beim Beschaffungsprozess bestimmter Produkte und Services. Aktuell ist das IPD in 21 Ländern tätig: Ägypten, Äthiopien, Brasilien, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana, Indonesien, Kambodscha, Kenia, Kolumbien, Madagaskar, Marokko, Nepal, Peru, Senegal, Südafrika, Sri Lanka, Tansania, Tunesien, Ukraine und Usbekistan. Das IPD fokussiert sich dabei auf bestimmte Branchen: - frisches Obst und Gemüse - natürliche Zutaten für Lebensmittel, Pharmazie und Kosmetik - nachhaltiger Fisch und Meeresfrüchte - Schnittblumen - nachhaltiger Tourismus - IT-Outsourcing. Aufbau und Durchführung des IPD verantwortet die weltweit tätige Entwicklungsorganisation sequa gGmbH in enger Kooperation mit dem Bundesverband Großhandel, Außenhandel, Dienstleistungen e.V. (BGA). Gefördert wird das IPD vom Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). IPD ist Teil des neu gegründeten entwicklungspolitischen Netzwerks „Partners in Transformation – Business & Development Network“ des BMZ . 🎯 Was ist unser Erfolgsrezept? Von Beginn an: Nachfrageorientierung. Ein Ohr bei der Wirtschaft, Bedarfe früh kennen und unser Angebot auf die Nachfragesituation zuschneiden. ℹ Unser Fachbeirat ist daher ein wichtiger Schlüssel zu unserem Erfolg. Nicht unser einziges Thema bei der gestrigen Sitzung des Fachbeirats, aber ein Schwerpunkt bildete das Sourcing, sprich die Auswahl und Vorbereitung von Exporteuren und Dienstleistern in unseren sechs Sektoren. 🔍 Die Basis für unser Sourcing bilden aber Branchen-Insights. Sie sind unbezahlbar. Unser Fachbeirat gibt uns Hinweise zu aktuellen Trends, Produkt-nachfragen und -engpässen sowie branchenspezifischen Herausforderungen. Ein wichtiges Thema gestern war zum Beispiel die Umsetzung des #Lieferkettengesetzes in der Praxis und wie das IPD - Import Promotion Desk dabei weiter unterstützen kann. 🌟 Strong demand for cocoa: IPD supports direct trade Poor harvests and increased demand are causing cocoa prices to rise. New sources of supply and direct purchasing from small and mediumsized producers can be an alternative to the current trade with international companies. 🤝IPD has brought together the two companies Hacienda Palo Santo - Cacao from Ecuador 🇪🇨 and Lovechock B.V. from the Netherlands as business partners. 🎯 The result: Hacienda Palo Santo supplies organic cocoa mass and nibs to its partner Lovechock. Last week we successfully kicked off a new round of training session on #sustainability in the #tourism sector. Just like in other #IPD sectors, European (outbound) tour operators increasingly opt for sustainability certification as proof of compliance with #environmental, #social, and #governance criteria. However, for different reasons (lack of information, budget, time,...), not all SMEs in our partner countries are in a position to get certified right away. For this reason, the IPD - Import Promotion Desk supports partner companies with information and a user-friendly tool that helps them assess the status quo in their own company and along the supply chain, identify possible risks and take appropriate measures, as well as set their own goals in order to become even more sustainable and prepare for possible certification in the future. In two very lively online workshops, companies from #Ecuador, #Nepal, #SriLanka, #Tunisia, and #Uzbekistan talked about their approach to sustainability, the obstacles they face, and exchanged possible solutions to overcome them. It was impressive to see how well they understand the different challenges and how far they already are in their own sustainability journey. 🌊 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵! Today, we celebrate the incredible diversity of fish and reflect on our responsibility to manage this vital resource sustainably. Since this year, everything for me has revolved around fish – because I’ve started as an Expert Sourcing and Markets for Sustainable Seafood at IPD - Import Promotion Desk. Our mission at IPD is to support SMEs from developing and emerging countries through capacity building and matchmaking, enabling them to access the European market and establish sustainable trade relationships with European importers. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗱𝗼? I am the go-to person for all things fish! 🐟 Here’s a glimpse into my role: • I travel to selected partner countries and visit seafood companies ready to export to Europe. • When selecting companies, we focus on product quality, export readiness, compliance with international standards and certifications, and place a special emphasis on sustainability. 🌍 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: In the seafood sector, sustainability is not just a trend – it’s essential. We are dedicated to supporting companies that are committed to making a positive impact. 𝗠𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿? My Sourcing Mission to Peru in May! Even though I’ve known the country for years, I saw it in a whole new light. I met highly motivated companies offering unique, sustainable products like paiche from the rainforest, trout from Lake Titicaca, and shrimp from the Northern coast. The warm hospitality of these companies, often accompanied by delicious meals freshly prepared from their own products, made the experience very special for me. I’m especially proud that our first mission was a success – we’ve already onboarded the first Peruvian partner companies into our export promotion programme, even though the IPD has only recently ventured into the seafood sector.
