Congratulations to our PhD student Mohamed Matared who defended his thesis yesterday at University of Jena! He was researcher in the ITN project #MiRA (Microbe-induced Resistance against Agricultural pests) and investigated the possibility to use beneficial insects as vectors for beneficial microorganisms. We hosted him for lab and greenhouse trials, whereas for the majority of lab research he was supported by #FGK (Research Centre for Horticultural Crops) in Erfurt, Kühnhausen. Special thanks to Philipp Franken, Katja Burow and all other colleagues from FGK!

Microbiomes everywhere...we shouldn't underestimate their role for human health is one of my learnings from the conference Food Systems Microbiomes #fsm24 last week in Torino. The new MicrobiomeSupport Association (www.microbiomesupport.eu) is definetely an important milestone for the whole field, science and application. Thanks for the chance to present our mycorrhiza work on tomato. Enjoy the microbiome podcast with Prof. Lene Lang from one of the founding institutions here https://lnkd.in/ev7sW9V4

What do you think about the CMN debate: Healthy or exasperating?
Emotions are running high about the #woodwideweb, which made this a tricky topic to report on. In a nutshell: a lot of forest and fungal scientists are irritated with scientists who tell the public that trees talk to each other and look after each other. For one thing, they think it's counter to Darwinian evolution; for another, they think the evidence supports more pragmatic explanations of what's going on. Some, though, think there's great science going here, and healthy debate about the relative roles of cooperation and competition in explaining ecosystems. And Suzanne Simard, who wrote #TheMotherTree, thinks they are fiddling while Rome burns. Thanks to my many interviewees and especially to Catherine Gehring, Marc-André SELOSSE, @Nils Henriksson, Charlotte Sleigh and Tamir Klein, whose insights were invaluable but whose names didn't make it into the article. Indebted to Suzanne Simard, @Jason Hoeksema, Melanie Jones, Justine Karst, @James Cahill, Katie Field David Johnson Brian John Pickles. And thanks to Kevin Beiler, David Perry and @Kathryn Flinn. Exactly our experience and results with (reliable!) products of #mycorrhizal fungi. But how can a farmer check the product quality? Inform yourself: e.g. see product sheet for propagule number and shelf life, compare prices and dosage recommendation, check efficacy trial results and stay critical - as for all farm management measure.
How do #biostimulants actually make a difference in #cropproduction? By enhancing and increasing the plant's natural processes, such as increasing root and shoot growth, they can lead to a 25% increase in #nutrientusefficiency, leading to a possible 10% increase in yield and improving #quality. Share our #infographic below with your network to spread the word about the positive impact of #biotimulants. Find out more: biostimulants.eu

Schaut gerne vorbei!

Our next expo is just around the corner. I will be at FRUIT LOGISTICA in Berlin with Inoq GmbH and Carolin Schneider next week. A first for Inoq and definitely a first for me. The fruit and vegetable market can most definitely benefit from mycorrhiza in their production process. Healthy soil, healthy products, happy customers... and another way to make the industrial production of fruit and vegetable more sustainable... which is so important especially in Southern European regions where water shortage, and the extensive use of pesticides in the past brings a lot of challenges on the table. #mykorrhiza #mycorrhiza #biostimulants #sustainability #sustainableagriculture #fruitsandvegetables #fruitlogistica #inoq #soilhealth #soil #watermanagement
