It orchestrates the necessary steps for two or more parties to share data, including requesting a catalogue, negotiating a contract, and managing the transfer process. Our focus paper describes the choices IDSA made and why they – in our view – form the best path to standardized data space technology. It’s the essence of the last seven years of IDSA work and now ready to be pushed for standardization by the end of 2024. Yesterday at the Big Data Expo 2024 in Guiyang, China, the focus was on "Trusted Data Sharing and Data Spaces." Thorsten Huelsmann represented IDSA in person, highlighting our work on #DataSpaces, the #DataSpaceProtocol, and international standardization. Key discussions included coordination with the Chinese National Data Administration (NDA) and its leader, Liu Liehong. The afternoon featured the "International Exchange on Data Spaces" event, co-hosted by IDSA and NDA, and co-organized from Huawei, CFIEC, CAICT, and Fraunhofer ISST. Presentations included: – Sven Löffler from T-Systems International with concrete commercial implementations at T-Systems and involvement in various domain-specific data space initiatives such as Catena-X, – Julia Pampus from Fraunhofer ISST on #OpenSourceSoftware and the Eclipse Foundation Data Spaces Component project EDC, – Noboru Koshizuka, Universität Tokio on the data space initiatives in Japan, – Liu Dong, Future Internet Engineering Center CFIEC on the network of data space organisations, – Yu Xiaohui, CAICT on the recent Chinese innovation practises on dataspaces, – Gregory Healy, SAP on the Catena-X initiative for the automotive industry, – Tao Jingwen, Huawei on the activities of Huawei in China related to data spaces.

Sharing data is not a new thing, but the requirements for it are evolving. We need data connectors to share data - because connectors enable secure and effective communication and exchange in data spaces. Swipe through the slider to explore their crucial role!
