Recognition 🎖️ Terrie Moore, Chris Hogg, Hilary Beeton, Sandra Titulaer and Raul Reina are the recipients of the 2024 IPC Classification Recognition Awards for their significant contribution to classification within the Paralympic Movement “It is important that all of us involved in #ParaSport take a moment to acknowledge the importance of their work and invest further efforts to raise the profile of classification personnel within the Movement. Make for an inclusive world through Para sport
Info
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement. Its primary responsibilities are to support our 200 plus members, develop Para sport and advocate social inclusion, ensure the successful delivery and organisation of the Paralympic Games and act as the international federation for 5 Para sports. Founded on 22 September 1989 as a non-profit organisation, the IPC is an athlete-centred organisation composed of an elected Governing Board, a management team and various Standing Committees and Councils. Since 1999 we have been headquartered in Bonn, Germany. The IPC seeks to make for an inclusive world through sport by developing sports opportunities for all people with disabilities from the beginner to elite level. It currently employs over 130 people from more than 40 countries. Thanks to the unique combination of ever-improving athletic performance and increasing global awareness, the Paralympic Games are today firmly established as the world’s number one sport event for driving social inclusion. The event boasts a strong track record for transforming attitudes, cities, countries, and the lives of millions of people around the world.

It was wonderful to have our Board head up Cairns, one of our Co-Host Cities, last week to engage with the community and learn more about the region. Board members spent time with young athletes at Barlow Park, which will undergo a $91 million upgrade, making it a spectacular venue for the community to enjoy well in advance of the Games coming to town. They also explored Skyrail Rainforest Cableway that runs above the Barron Gorge National Park in the Wet Tropics of Queensland's World Heritage Area, learning about the world's oldest tropical rainforest from a Ranger. We’re looking forward to working closely with the Cairns community as we prepare for our Games, making it a vibrant celebration of the spirit and talent in this region.
