A huge, enormous ‘merci beaucoup'! "The fans were an important part and a fundamental part of the Paris 2024 Games. It was a combination of the sport performances, the great venues, very smooth operations, but certainly the participation of the Parisians or the spectators in the stands that made these Games so spectacular." International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons reflects on #Paris2024. #Paralympics https://lnkd.in/defxam-G

Make for an inclusive world through Para sport
Info
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement. Its primary responsibilities are to support our 200 plus members, develop Para sport and advocate social inclusion, ensure the successful delivery and organisation of the Paralympic Games and act as the international federation for 5 Para sports. Founded on 22 September 1989 as a non-profit organisation, the IPC is an athlete-centred organisation composed of an elected Governing Board, a management team and various Standing Committees and Councils. Since 1999 we have been headquartered in Bonn, Germany. The IPC seeks to make for an inclusive world through sport by developing sports opportunities for all people with disabilities from the beginner to elite level. It currently employs over 130 people from more than 40 countries. Thanks to the unique combination of ever-improving athletic performance and increasing global awareness, the Paralympic Games are today firmly established as the world’s number one sport event for driving social inclusion. The event boasts a strong track record for transforming attitudes, cities, countries, and the lives of millions of people around the world.

Vive la Révolution de l'inclusion No better place to celebrate my 14th anniversary at the International Paralympic Committee than the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. To say I love working for the IPC is an understatement, it is more than a job and the most rewarding experience you could imagine. Each Games is life changing yet exhausting experience but I wouldn't swap it for the world. Through sport we drive social inclusion for persons with disabilities. I've worked with and met some fantastic people over the years and am delighted to be in Paris with probably the most talented team I've had yet. For a job I originally planned to stay in for two years, it's now part of my dna. Change Starts with Sport.

What a privilege to be part of the International Paralympic Committee! I remember watching the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games at home without truly understanding the transformative power of #ChangeStartsWithSport or the hard work and dedication that goes into organising such events. After an exhilarating two weeks and indescribable high working at the record-breaking Paris 2024 Games watching some of the most incredible athletes compete, I am honoured to be able to help tell their stories and be part of #TeamIPC. Having watched only a few live sporting events before (and that too only cricket), there is nothing better than seeing crowds come together to cheer on athletes and teams. I hope we can begin to understand the power of sport in Pakistan beyond cricket and support athletes regardless of gender, (dis)ability or background, when they need it most: the Anwar Nadeems before they win gold, the Haider Alis in between Games, the Maria Toorpakai Wazirs simply because they possess natural talent and the many more waiting for a chance. I'm already counting down to the next Games and cant wait to see what it has in store.
🇫🇷 Paris 2024 Paralympic Games Highlights | A Celebration of Spirit and Triumph ❤️💙💚
