The EU has introduced a registration requirement for L-Lysine imports from China as part of an anti-dumping investigation. This measure, following a complaint from EUROLYSINE, allows the EU to potentially apply anti-dumping duties retroactively if it’s confirmed that Chinese imports are harming the EU market by being sold at unusually low prices. EUROLYSINE claims that Chinese L-Lysine has been underpriced by up to 81%, causing significant financial harm to EU producers. If duties are imposed, they would aim to either match the underpricing margin or address the level of injury caused. This registration applies to specific L-Lysine products used in animal feed and will last for nine months, helping the EU monitor import levels and pricing. If extra charges are applied, they could increase the costs of L-Lysine products within the EU, potentially impacting pricing and availability across the agriculture and feed industries.
