Koehler supports people with through the Leben mit Behinderung Ortenau e.V. association 😊👍 Employees at the Koehler Group recently raised 1,000 euros in donations by buying our highly popular art calendar for 2024. Koehler Group CEO Kai Furler had the opportunity to hand over the donation to the Leben mit Behinderung Ortenau e.V. association. “It really is great that the association is helping tackle the needs and interests of people with physical disabilities and their families. Needless to say, having the opportunity to help make their wishes reality is an honor,” Kai Furler said. The Leben mit Behinderung Ortenau association was founded in 1970 by parents of disabled children as a self-help organization. Since then, the association has continuously expanded the services it offers in order to better assist families with children suffering from physical or multiple disabilities. In fact, this process saw home care and support offerings being gradually added until the range of services was finally rounded out with residential and semi-residential care offerings. For many years now, the annual art calendar released by Koehler Paper has been tremendously popular, and this year’s edition was the result of a collaboration with artist Kilias Knispel. #koehlerpaper #paperforthefuture #calendar #donate

That is why Koehler is once again presenting the Koehler Paper Award at Munich University of Applied Sciences this year for outstanding achievements in the fields of chemical technology, coating and specialty papers. Celebrating tradition and the future 🎉 As part of the anniversary celebration, Koehler honored 71 employees who have been loyal to the company for 10, 25, 40 and even 50 years. The company also bid farewell to 38 employees on their well-deserved retirement. In his welcome address, CEO of the Koehler Group Kai Furler stressed the importance of long-serving employees at a time when many companies are focused on short-term objectives. “Working at the same company for 40 or even 50 years is a huge rarity these days,” Furler noted. “Our employees are the beating heart of Koehler. It is their knowledge and their passion that has enabled the company to grow and succeed. Teamwork makes it possible: Soap packed in Paper 🤝 🧼 A partnership between the machine producer Ballestra Mazzoni and converter Rotolificio Bergamasco made it possible to pack soap bars in Koehler NexPlus® Seal MOB paper. The machine MLB 500 is suitable for paper packaging with appropriate folding box, running with speed of 250 soaps per minute as the video below shows. This is a successful example of packaging machine conversion and outstanding quality of paper runnability which is essential to a transition for sustainable packaging. For Koehler, sustainability also means being a reliable partner and building a trusting relationship with the service provider 🤝 In the field of logistics, we can look back on many long-standing partnerships. "Meeting at eye level and dealing honestly with each other is an advantage in these fast-moving times. We can talk to our partners and rely on them - that's how we manage to keep our logistics processes even in difficult times," explains Andreas Riedlinger, Head of Logistics at Koehler. One of these partners is the logistics company Werner. Werner and the Koehler Group have been working hand in hand since 2019 and were able to jointly build and expand the Appenweier warehouse location. This main warehouse for our flexible packaging paper now has space for around 10,000 tons of NexFlex® paper. With an outgoing goods volume of 250 to 300 loads and an incoming goods volume of 200 to 250 loads per month, there is always a lot going on here. Such a volume of shipments can only be managed together in a good partnership. To mark the company's 70th anniversary of Spedition Werner, representatives of the Koehler Group were able to present an insect hotel as a token of appreciation. Thuringian Minister-President Bodo Ramelow (Die Linke) Visits Koehler Paper at its Greiz mill 🤝 The Thuringian Minister-President, Bodo Ramelow (Die Linke), visited the Koehler Paper site in Greiz as part of his summer tour together with Holger Steiniger, Chairman of the Greiz City Council, Alexander Frieß and Leon Walter, direct candidate (Die Linke). The talks centered on the local, but also national needs of the paper manufacturer, which sells its high-quality recycled paper to the whole world from its site in Greiz. The company’s climate strategy was also a subject of discussion. Bodo Ramelow was enthusiastic about the sustainable corporate policy: “We need companies like Koehler that are committed and courageous. The topic of logistics plays a major role when it comes to sustainability. Koehler Paper is keen to continue shifting more goods to rail. Unfortunately, however, there are always major hurdles to overcome. 🚆 At the 20th VDV and DSLV marketplace event in Siegburg/Germany, Andreas Riedlinger, Head of Logistics at Koehler, was able to point out the various problems. In the past, for example, six kilometers of track were removed from the Kehl freight station around the Koehler Paper plant in Kehl, which are now urgently needed and are simply missing. Among other things, Andreas Riedlinger is bewildered by the fact that the temporary/extension tracks required for the construction phase of the "POS Süd" rail project are being built, but will have to be dismantled again later. "In order to shift volumes from road to rail in the long term, we need pragmatic and solution-oriented concepts, which must be developed and implemented together with shippers from the industry," suggests the Head of Logistics of the Koehler Group. He adds: "There is no lack of will on the part of the industry! In addition to regulatory issues, the reliability of rail as a mode of transport plays a decisive role here - which is unfortunately currently being disrupted by many factors and can severely disrupt supply security and the flow of goods."
