Good Monday! As continuation of our series #QueerLeadershipSpotlight, as part of our SciLead x LGBTQ STEM Berlin collaboration, today we want to highlight today the profile of Raghav Dhingra, a core team member at LGBTQ STEM Berlin. Growing up in Jaipur, India, Raghav was constantly surrounded by binarisms. This made it difficult, later on, to openly embrace queerness without feeling shame. Raghav's journey into self discovery and acceptance is a reminder of the different realities that people experience depending of their cultural backgrounds and the importance of shining light into these different experiences to create visibility within the academic community. While 'leader' is not a term Raghav feels comfortable with, he believes that he can lead by example and inspire others to be proud of what makes them different. We are seeking a diverse group of scientists to challenge assumptions and biases in their scientific work and environments, share their experiences and insights, and shed light on their unique scientific pursuits. Once again, Soapbox Science and LGBTQ+ STEM Berlin are joining forces to organize this event. Our mission is to promote diversity and inclusivity in the scientific community, offering a platform where all voices and perspectives can be heard. If you would like to share the insights of your research with the general public in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, we want to hear from you! We encourage scientists, researchers, experts, and enthusiasts alike to apply as speakers for our event. SciLead x LGBTQ STEM Berlin collaboration is finally here!! During the next weeks we will be shining a spotlight on outstanding leadership within the queer community in Germany and beyond. Today, we want to spotlight the inspiring journey of one of our own: Diana Alatriste, PhD —a queer, Latin scientist who exemplifies resilience and advocacy in the pursuit of a more inclusive academic environment. Through perseverance, Diana has found their voice, advocating for more inclusive spaces within academia. We are incredibly proud of their contributions and grateful for the support from colleagues and mentors who share our mission of fostering an academic culture that celebrates diversity and innovation. Although Diana doesn’t consider being a traditional leader, the efforts to challenge the status quo and inspire positive change are a testament to the leadership inherent in such actions.
