International Women’s Day 2025 – Celebrating Women in Life Sciences! In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are proud to highlight two colleagues who are driving innovation in life sciences and shaping the start-up ecosystem. We asked our Venture Director, Irina Reimer, and our Lab Manager, Katrin Wallbrecht: What inspires you about working in the Life Science Factory and the start-up ecosystem, and what advice would you give to young women looking to pursue a career in this field? 💬 Irina Reimer: "I am inspired by collaborating with a diverse network of experienced individuals who possess a remarkable mindset. In this dynamic environment, groundbreaking solutions for human health are developed, and I am proud to contribute daily. My advice for aspiring founders: Be bold and confident. Trust in your abilities, connect with others, share your ideas, and find "wingwomen" who will support you!" 💬 Dr. Katrin Wallbrecht: "If you have scientific curiosity, you can develop very well in this field and determine your own path. The need to think and act out of the box leads to flexibility, not only in the mind, but also allows you to find the best framework conditions for each individual phase of life. A high degree of self-determination and self-efficacy can be experienced. Successful people are those who act and communicate in networks in a relationship-orientated way, allowing them to recognise potential for synergies that are not always obvious." Thank you, Irina and Katrin, for your inspiring insights! #IWD2025 #WomenInScience #Startups #LifeSciences #Empowerment #WomenInLeadership

  • 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹? 💡 Yesterday, we delved into this question at the 6th Life Science Start-up Day! The event was kicked off by Minister of Economic Affairs Olaf Lies, who provided insights into the future of the life science industry. Throughout the day, around 300 participants gained valuable insights into the success factors of a startup through engaging discussions and captivating keynotes. The key takeaways of the day: 📉 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱: High workload, financial uncertainties, and a high risk of failure require a conscious decision to embark on the entrepreneurial path. 👥 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹: Scientific expertise alone is not enough; entrepreneurial thinking, market understanding, and customer focus are essential. 📜 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: The right corporate structure and ownership arrangements are crucial for financing and growth. 🔒 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 (𝗜𝗣): Early and well-planned patent and protection strategies prevent existential risks and secure competitive advantages. ⚡ 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: Successful startups act swiftly, avoid lengthy decision-making processes, and rely on a strong network of experts and investors. A special highlight was the keynote by Thomas Thum, who shared his journey with Cardior Pharmaceuticals and provided valuable insights into financing. His message to founders: “𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, 𝗜𝗣, 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 – without these four pillars, it won't work.” The heart of the Startup Day is, of course, the startup pitches. This year, the audience was delighted to see: Inhale+, RevOFib, rectify, Lumeox, ELPIS Simulation GmbH and Mabel AI In the afternoon, networking allowed for new connections to be made and existing relationships to be strengthened. We are delighted with the numerous guests and proud to have set the stage for future events in the life science sector with the Life Science Start-up Day. A big thank you to our amazing speakers: Wolfgang Brück, Elisabeth Zeisberg, Sven Wagner, Ellen Goel, Dr. Tim Zinowsky, Dr. Lennart Weiß, Martha Smets, Carlos Güntner, Dr. Philipp Rittershaus, Anna Hartmann, Alicia Lammerskitten, Christoph Ratke and Thomas Thum and a big thank you to our moderator Viva Brunnert! We are already looking forward to next year! #LSSD #LifeScienceStartupDay #LifeScienceEvent #Networking #Südniedersachsen
