Valeo and MAHLE have joined forces to develop an innovative magnet-free electric axle system, targeting upper segment electric vehicles with peak power ranging from 220 kW to 350 kW. Introducing the iBEE system (inner Brushless Electrical Excitation), this cutting-edge technology aims to revolutionize performance and efficiency of magnet free electric motors. Valeo and MAHLE signed a Joint Development Agreement to combine both Valeo’s expertise in electric motors, highly efficient inverters and associated motor control laws and the expertise of MAHLE on magnet-free rotor with its MAHLE Contactless Transmitter (MCT) technology. Together, both companies are working on an innovative cooling concept in order to achieve an outstanding continuous to peak power ratio. The carbon footprint is expected to be reduced by more than 40% versus a permanent magnet electric motor of equivalent power. Today’s International Bathtub Day—but what has this got to do with MAHLE? At MAHLE, we’re making waves in sustainable future transport with our 800V high-performance coolant pump for fuel cell applications. Capable of delivering 2.5 kW of power, our coolant pump can handle 300 liters of coolant per minute. Particular important for fuel cells which require high cooling capacity. This is where bathtubs come into play: our pump is extremely compact but yet so powerful that it could fill two bathtubs on the 10th floor from the ground in under a minute. From simulation engineer to Head of Series Development at MAHLE! Holger's career path at MAHLE: 🎓 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Business Administration (post-graduate program). 🔧 Joined MAHLE with the preparation of his diploma thesis and assumed the role of simulation engineer for engine cooling pre-development. 🌍 Assignment abroad in India in the technical management of the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation team, training of local engineers, standardization, and process optimization at the Pune location. 🔄 After returning to Germany, he became a project manager in the field of fuel cell systems and electric drives. 👨🏽💼 Head of System Development, responsible for the "System Competence", "Simulation" and "Design & Cost Calculation" teams. 🚀 Current position: Head of Series Development in the area of traction motors within the Electronics and Mechatronics business unit, with teams in Kornwestheim and Slovenia. „The internal and external seminars and practical applications have created a solid professional basis for my transition from mechanical engineering to the mechatronic world of e-mobility. My participation in relevant external conferences and involvement as a speaker have provided me with cutting-edge specialist knowledge and a global personal network.“ Holger's journey is a testament to the opportunities for continuous learning and growth at MAHLE.
