Digitalisation as the key to future viability: 82% of energy companies in Germany report inefficient processes due to incompatible IT systems. This is the key finding of the Energy Insights 2024 study. It is clear to the 150 IT decision-makers surveyed by Frends Enterprise iPaaS: without comprehensive digitalisation and system integration, the future viability of energy companies is seriously at risk. Venko Kisev, Head of IT Modernization at MaibornWolff: “The study provides crucial information. Particularly interesting is the high number of energy companies experiencing significant efficiency impairments due to incompatible IT systems. Modernization and system integration are crucial not only for stabilizing ongoing operations but also for being equipped for future innovations.” The study identifies further fields of action: 1. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀:    There is a great need for integration, especially when it comes to data analysis and energy management. Legacy systems contain valuable data, but only by connecting them with modern solutions such as smart grids and IoT can we secure the energy supply of the future.     2. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆:    Almost half of IT managers see a great need for automation, particularly in energy management and data analysis. Automated processes reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve grid stability.     3. 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 - 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲:    Compliance with legal requirements and the integration of modern security solutions into outdated systems represent a major challenge. IT managers must ensure that their companies are prepared for the constantly growing threats.     4. 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 & 𝗔𝗜 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲:    Cloud technologies and artificial intelligence are indispensable tools for increasing efficiency and innovation. Companies that successfully integrate these technologies will have a decisive competitive advantage.        Do you need help with this? Venko and our cloud, data and security experts look forward to hearing from you.

From Idea to #MVP: How mixed Teams from Germany and Rwanda turn Concepts into Market-Ready MVPs. We continue our interview with Sebastian Krieg, Head of New Business at Ojemba, a MaibornWolff subsidiary offering top-tier software development in Rwanda. 𝗦𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻, 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗩𝗣 𝗟𝗮𝗯? Sebastian: "While the Prototype Lounge is focused on building PoCs, with the MVP Lab we aim to create a fast solution for MVP development." 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗩𝗣 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? Sebastian: "Challenges like quality and trust also need to be addressed in MVP development. Additionally, the topic of interfaces becomes more relevant - not just technical interfaces but also professional ones involving different stakeholders or departments such as design." 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗷𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮, 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗪𝗼𝗹𝗳𝗳, 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀? Sebastian:   • "𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘅𝘆 𝗣𝗢 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆: As part of the cross-functional mixed team, we always see a Proxy PO who prioritizes client requirements and takes care of the interfaces. It is not uncommon for these agreements to take place on-site with the customer. • 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗼𝗳-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻: An MVP Lounge usually lasts 6 weeks, which is not much time. Therefore, it is crucial that there are no idle times in the development team and that tasks are prioritized. To achieve this, our digital designers are specially trained and have been fulfilling this role for years. • 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: Our developers are intrinsically motivated to actively think along and bring proactive suggestions to the project despite the physical distance from the customer. We pay close attention to such skills in the selection of personnel. Furthermore, an emotional bond with the project within the team is necessary. This can be achieved through many measures and is often neglected in offshoring." Do you already have an idea that needs to be realized? Comment below or contact us to learn more!

𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿: Building Bridges Across Continents At MaibornWolff, we're redefining collaboration with our "Tunis Power" project. Under the guidance of multiple key partners, we’re integrating Tunisian talent into our teams, creating a seamless working environment between two continents. Why? Because high motivation and excellent skills know no borders. In our newly established ICE division, Tunisian team members are already making significant contributions, particularly in projects which focus on developing and maintaining innovative software solutions for various clients. Our partnership with Tunisia goes beyond simple off-shoring. It's about embracing the unique strengths of our Tunisian colleagues and blending our (work) cultures. We don’t leave our Tunisian colleagues on their own but integrate them deeply into our teams. Ibrahim Mahjoubi, one of the first software engineers in our Tunis office, has grown into a leadership role. "Lead by inspiring people" is his motto, and he practices it by mentoring Nawres Ben Rhouma and Achwek Moualhi. Nawres notes, “Ibrahim inspired me even before he became my supervisor. He teaches all of us that asking for help is never shameful. A manager can push your limits in a better way.” Achwek builds on this: "His leadership style is all about allowing us the autonomy to take ownership of our work while knowing that he is always there to guide and support us when needed.” Stefanie Botz, one of our key partners, emphasizes the importance of building leadership structures locally. Face-to-face interaction is crucial, and shared experiences like AI Summer Camps and visits between Tunis and Germany strengthen our bond. Communication is key to trust and success. Ibrahim says, "I don't feel like I'm working far away." Our culture of diversity and inclusion fosters open communication, ensuring trust between our Tunisian and German teams.

The Power of Mixed Teams for Rapid #Prototyping : In our interview series, we explore how mixed teams drive success in software projects. Discover insights from Sebastian Krieg, Head of New Business at Ojemba, a MaibornWolff subsidiary renowned for premium software development in Rwanda. Today, Sebastian introduces our innovative Prototype Lounge. 𝗦𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟭𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀, 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹? Sebastian: “Absolutely. Rapid prototyping and mixed teams are not mutually exclusive; in fact, they complement each other perfectly.” 𝗪𝗵𝘆? Sebastian: "Faster Scaling: Mixed teams greatly enhance the ability to scale, offering access to a broader talent pool. Optimal Resource Efficiency: Depending on the complexity and specific requirements of tasks, including those for on-site needs, a cost-efficient team can be assembled." 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗷𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀? Sebastian: "At Ojemba, we defined the Prototype Lounge which is a concept for developing software prototypes within 3 weeks for our customers. I would like to emphasize 3 aspects: 1. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The notion that “it’s just a prototype, it will be discarded” is something I have encountered frequently, but honestly, I have never seen a successful prototype that was truly discarded. In reality, prototypes often evolved with additional features until they go live. This frequently results in technical debt, which can be costly. With Prototype Lounge we want to limit technical debts from the beginning. 2. 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲: Rwanda shares the same time zone as Germany, which is a significant advantage for project setup. 3. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁: Successful prototypes are a vital asset for a company as they embody innovation. I want them to be in reliable hands. A development team with a shared understanding of architecture, equivalent training, and the benefit of MaibornWolff’s 30 years of project experience forms an outstanding combination.

Enhancing Leadership: A couple of weeks ago seventeen of our colleagues, mainly department and deputy department heads  took part in an Agile Leadership training session organized by Amrei Knierim. This session aimed to deepen our understanding of agile leadership and strengthen its application within our company. The training was facilitated by Simon Flossmann & Marc Kaufmann, who led us through the essentials of agile leadership. "This training is a valuable piece for anyone in a leadership role in our agile world. The 2 days were packed with practical examples, some of which I encountered directly in my everyday work after the training," said Matthias Gasser. The training covered: • Building and supporting agile teams. • Changing the way we organize, manage, and measure work. • Leading cultural change to leverage agile product development benefits.    Amrei emphasized, "I believe that the perspective of agile leadership is incredibly helpful for us. I'm very glad we conducted this training and hope it will continue to embed agile leadership within our company." Agile teams need support from the entire organization, and this training aims to prepare our leaders to offer that support effectively. The interactive exercises and case studies provided hands-on experience in leading and coaching agile teams. This training aligns with our goal of becoming more responsive to customer needs and market changes, ultimately driving better results and fostering a more agile organization.

How do you go from being a 22-year-old entrepreneur to leading a company of over 1000? Our latest #onboarding event covered this and much more: Our new team members spent 3 days fully immersed in the heart of our organisation. Each day brought fresh insights into what makes MaibornWolff tick as an IT service provider, from our roots to our strategic vision. 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭: Founder Holger Wolff kicked things off with the inspiring journey from our inception to where we are today. Did you know that it took us from 1994 to 2010 to grow from 0 to 50 employees, and only another 15 years to reach over 1000? Holger highlighted the importance of customer satisfaction and our culture of trust. 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮: Marcus Adlwart and Christian Loos transformed our newbies into project managers and CFOs. They dove deep into the company's figures, gaining a hands-on understanding of our KPIs. 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯: Florian Theimer unveiled our future strategy and service offerings, providing a clear picture of our core business and vision moving forward. Here's what our new team members had to say: Ayadi Yassine: "I really appreciated the opportunity to meet colleagues from different office locations and get to know each other better. I also enjoyed the interactive session with the CEOs, where we could ask any questions we had, which made me feel more connected and involved in our company's direction and goals." Gabriela Treffs: "As a newcomer, connecting with people from other departments or locations, such as Tunis, is beneficial. This way, when you travel to another office you already know some familiar faces. I was also pleasantly suprised by the openness of the managing directors who took time to get to know us outside of the "main program". I gained insights about the company structure and like that we all have the opportunity to help shape the history of MaibornWolff." A big thanks to Cordula Gloge and Stefanie Motzokan for guiding through the event. #Onboarding #TeamBuilding  #CompanyCulture
